Hello all, I hope you haven't all forgotten about me ? It's been months since I've been active on the page, no real reason to give on why I've been hibernating.
Thought I'd jump on this evening with a few selections for tomorrow. I hope everyone is keeping well and good luck if you decide on following.
Lagonda 9/4 – 2:10 Market Rasen
A small 5 runner field in which I feel Lagonda holds strong claims for the inform V Williams yard.
She was upped quite a bit in trip last time out at Chepstow where she finished a good 2nd behind Neil Kings Sporting Ace. I thought Quinlan went for home a tad early that day but probably wasn't beating the eventual winner anyway. Regardless of your view on the ride it was a good run and gives connections something to build on. I definitely think around the 3mile mark Is where this horse is seen to her best and with conditions to suit and a few of this field having question marks I think 9/4 is a decent bet.
Zain Nights 11/4 – 1:40 Market Rasen
A risky bet, one I wouldn't be throwing the kitchen sink at in terms of placing money on the table but I thought at the prices Zain Nights had a decent chance for trainer Lucy Wadham.
Jumps racing isn't my strong point however I know this horse from its time on the flat for ex-trainer Harry and Roger Charlton. Zain Nights had a decent and consistent enough record on the flat and has shown glimpses of ability over the jumps since changing hands to Lucy Wadham. If able to tidy up on the jumping department he is capable of winning races such as this in time. Bryony Frost is booked for the ride, I'm a massive fan of Bryony, she's not everyone's cup of tea but she's a jockey I've always had a soft spot for. Whilst on the topic of Bryony Frost it's only right I give a quick shout-out and happy retirement to my boy Frodon. If you've followed me over the years you'll know Frodon and Strad were both my favourite horses, both are now retired unfortunately but Frodon in particular was a fantastic little horse, heart of a lion and always gave you a run for your money.
EW Plays
Excel Power 13/2 EW + Gulliver 16/1 EW 7:00 Southwell
I'm not going to blaber on and do a full write-up on these two horses. This is a competitive class 2 event and those towards the top of the market didn't really do it for me so I've decided to have two small EW plays on Excel Power and Gulliver.
Excel Power ran a nice race at Chelmsford last month, he hit the front and looked to have the race in the bag but drifted slightly across and was nabbed close to the line. I thought 13/2 wasn't a bad price.
Gulliver I think is overpriced at 16s, he's the type of horse who goes hot and cold but if he's at the races he can definitely be competitive. He's done some serious amounts of racing recently, racing 11 times last year alone. He's now a 10-year-old entering the veteran stage but he used to be rated much higher and he's down to a decent mark which makes him a nice EW play. 3lb claimer Mark Whin takes the ride, another jockey who is decent value for his claim. Most bookies paying 4 places some even 5 ( SkyBet )
Good luck!

Demachine 2.00 pm Doncaster 7/2
Managed to get a couple of days off work so thought I’d try chip in with some useful pointers and maybe even a winner.
6 of the last 7 of Kerry Lee’ winners have all been making their seasonal reappearance . Demachine runs tomorrow for the first time this season. He has won on his seasonal reappearance before and generally runs well fresh.
He ran 3 times in 2023 all in class 1 races. Tomorrow he drops into a class 3. He has come tumbling down the weights, running off 133 tomorrow, having been 140 this time last year. He is 3 lb lower than his last winning mark.
He has run twice at Doncaster, once over hurdles when running well at 22-1 finishing 3rd and the other time was over fences finishing last, but trainer was quoted saying the horse was making a respiratory noise so easy to put a line through that.
Looks like a flat track like Doncaster should be perfect looking at his previous runs. The good to soft ground tomorrow should be to his liking as well. He has run 3 times on good to soft, winning once and finishing 3rd twice.
Yard has a 22% strike rate with their chasers this season with 6 wins from 27. The yards last runner was a winner.
Reckon with the yard having their horses ready first time out, the flat track, drop in grade, the good to soft ground,3lb lower than last winning mark and the very decent strike rate of the yard this season, this should be running a good race tomorrow. Reckon its worth taking the early price if anyone else was tempted to have a bet on this tomorrow.
Best of luck everyone with their bets.
