GOLF returns after the Xmas / New Year break with the Tournament of Champions taking place at the Plantation Course in Kapalua in Hawaii, which is 7,518 yards long and is a Par 73.
Power is the name of the game this week with it being a long course but also wide open with the winds being the only negative.
As the name implies it is by invitation only, open to winners on the Tour last year.
Three men Justin Rose, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson are taking an extended break by not turning up this week. The seller field of 34 is full of class players though.
As normal I will be selecting three players each way and also top 10 finishes.
Jon Rahm
First pick this week is JON RAHM who finished the season well last year and finished second on his debut here last time. That will stand him in good stead this time around. A good long driver, he is sure to be thereabouts come Sunday evening.
Marc Leishman
Second pick this week is MARC LEISHMAN. The tall Aussie finished the season well last year with a victory and a second place in his home open. A solid player who seems to have an excellent each way chance this week.
Patton Kizzire
Third and last pick this week is PATTON KIZZIRE who carded four under par rounds on his debut last year to finish 15th.
Loves this area as he won the Sony Open in Hawaii the following week. Seems to be overlooked by the bookies and has solid chances.
