After 365 days, the greatest golf tournament in existence is finally upon us once again and on Masters Eve, we are here to provide three top tips for the first major of the season.
It's been an excellent month or so for the page with three winners successfully picked from the last five events at combined odds of more than 8000/1. I have form coming into the event, but the key this week will be picking those who have form on the green.
As ever, the Masters will be played over four days at Augusta National which, to many, is the greatest golf course on the planet. In recent years, the course has become longer with organisers keen to ensure overly low scores don't become the norm.
All eyes will be on Amen Corner throughout the week. The treacherous three-hole stretch from 11-13 could go a long way to determining the winner on Sunday with many legends of the game seeing their rounds collapse around this corner of the course in years gone by.
Scottie Scheffler is the man to beat this week after the world number one earned his second green jacket last year. Scheffler goes off as the favourite with most golf betting sites but he isn't one of our three picks due to sketchy form (by his standards) in the run-up to the event.
Without further ado, here are our Masters betting tips.
The Masters betting tips
Rory McIlroy EW (Ten places) – 6/1
Yes, it's time. It's finally time for Rory McIlroy to not only end his 11-year major drought but also complete the grand slam. The Masters has eluded the Northern Irishman over the years despite him getting desperately close on several occasions but the stars have aligned this year.
McIlroy has started the season brilliantly and he has unquestionably been the best player on the PGA Tour in 2025. He has already won two tournaments, including the Players Championship which felt like a huge win given the high stakes of the event, and that experience could prove pivotal after a series of mishaps in pressure situations in big events in recent years.
It's also worth noting that this course legitimately suits McIlroy's strengths, as evidenced by his seven top-ten finishes here in 16 appearances. The extra length added only makes him stronger, too, given that he is the highest-ranked player in driving distance in the field.
It very much feels that if McIlroy can't get the job done this year then maybe he is destined to never get his hands on the green jacket. While that may be premature, he has everything going for him coming into this week which makes this a golden opportunity.
Brooks Koepka EW (Ten places) – 25/1
At 25/1, Brooks Koepka is a steal. This is a guy who openly admits that his whole season and career is built around the four majors. He's not bothered about any other tournaments and you can tell as he nearly always puts himself in contention in the majors.
Although Koepka now plays on the LIV Tour, he has already proven that playing on what is effectively a part-time tour with resort courses doesn't negatively impact his chances of winning a major as he won the PGA Championship in 2023.
Regardless of what you think of LIV, Koepka has remained a winner since jumping ship. He has won more events on LIV than any other golfer which demonstrates perfectly how aggressive and positive he is. He's willing to risk losing to win and this is a golf course that rewards those types of players.
Furthermore, he has an excellent record at Augusta. He has finished inside the top 12 in four of his last six appearances here and finished as the runner-up to Tiger Woods in 2019.
J.J. Spaun EW (Ten places) – 90/1
Time and time again at Augusta National, we see players struggle with sloping greens which make every putt outside six feet very missable. While that obviously means players need a hot putting week to do well here, it isn't the single most important stat.
Instead, it's the players who give themselves the easiest putts possible with their approach play who excel at August. Of the last four winners of the tournament, each of them has ranked inside the top six for strokes gained on approach shots which tells you all you need to know.
The second-highest player in the field in strokes gained on approach shots in 2025 is J.J. Spaun who is a far better price at 90/1 compared to the player ranked first in the metric (Collin Morikawa at 12/1).
Spaun isn't exactly a nobody, either. He has recorded three top-three finishes on the PGA Tour in 2025 and narrowly missed out on the Players Championship via a playoff with McIlroy.
