With just one week to go until the final major of the year at the Open Championship, the PGA Tour and DP World Tour will merge together this weekend to host the Genesis Scottish Open.
For the past couple of years, the event has been played in the week prior to the Open Championship and that tradition continues this year. With next week's major championship also set to take place in Scotland, the Scottish Open will provide the field with ideal preparation.
The event will be played at Renaissance Club in North Berwick, and the par-70 links course will provide an interesting challenge for the game's elite, especially with rain forecast over the weekend.
Unsurprisingly, a lot of top players are teeing it up this week (15 of the world's top 25) but one notable absentee is Scottie Scheffler. The world number one has elected to go on vacation with his wife and baby and will head to Scotland next week, instead.

Scottish Open Betting Tips
Links golf is such a rarity these days on the PGA Tour that you almost have to throw away any stats accumulated on the tour this season and focus solely on two things. 1) A player's record on links golf courses in the UK and Ireland and 2) Their current form.
Tommy Fleetwood E/W (Ten places) 20/1
Tommy Fleetwood will be sick to death of people reminding him that he is yet to win an event on the PGA Tour and he will be hoping that this is the week to break his duck.
Fleetwood is one of the most consistent players on the PGA Tour, missing just one cut in 14 events played this season and that consistency will be integral around the blustery and unpredictable conditions at Renaissance.
As a Southport native, Fleetwood grew up on links golf courses and that has shown throughout his career. His record at this tournament over the past four years has been fantastic – he finished t6 last year, t4 in 2022, t26 in 2021 and lost a playoff in 2020.
Tom Kim E/W (Ten places) 28/1
Tom Kim is one of the brightest young talents in the world of golf and at the age of 22, he already has three wins to his name on the PGA Tour. This season, he started slowly but is beginning to show what he is capable of.
He was desperately unlucky to lose out in a playoff to Scottie Scheffler at the Travelers Championship last month and he also came close at the Canadian Open, finishing in a tie for 4th. He skipped the John Deere Classic last week and will be nice and fresh coming into this one.
Kim's record at this golf tournament is also very impressive. He has only played here twice, finishing third in 2022 and sixth in 2023. He further proved how adept he is around links golf courses when he finished second to Brian Harman at last year's Open Championship.
Aaron Rai top 20 finish 8/5
I've backed Aaron Rai on an E/W ticket for the past two weeks and the Englishman has come up trumps at both the Rocket Mortgage Classic (T2) and the John Deere Classic (T7). It would, therefore, feel wrong not to back him again here albeit just to finish in the top 20 given the stacked field.
The last two weeks aren't the only impressive performances of Rai's season, either, as he has two other top-ten finishes to his name as well as a solid top-20 finish at the US Open at the toughest golf course of the year, Pinehurst. In fact, he has only failed to finish inside the top 20 in two of his last seven starts.
Rai is also an established links golfer and has previous success at this tournament. He lifted the trophy in 2020 at this very golf course but as it wasn't co-hosted by the PGA Tour back then, it means he is still chasing his first PGA Tour triumph.
His outright price of 50/1 is also something that should be considered.
