IT'S been a strange World Cup, the big teams for whatever reason just haven’t turned up and are either huffing and puffing to narrow wins courtesy of late goals or dropping points against much less fancied outfits. Step Forward Germany.
Few gave Mexico any hope in the opening round of fixtures but they produced probably the biggest shock of those matches defeating the strongly fancied Germans 1-0.
In all honesty the reigning world champions can feel fortunate to have only gone down 1-0 with Mexico missing a host of chances on the break. Overall Germany were poor and they come into this knowing they can't afford any more slip-ups.
Sweden as Sweden so often do edged a narrow 1-0 win against South Korea courtesy of a second-half Granqvist penalty. They did enough and defensively didn’t have too many questions asked by the South Korean attack who were missing several key players.
Germany should get back to winning ways here against a Swedish side whose only real threat will be set-pieces. Sweden will be looking to frustrate and keep things tight and they may well succeed but won't be able to do that for 90 mins.
