Sheffield Wednesday finished the season like a train and only narrowly missed out on promotion back to the Championship, but they’re in good shape to set-up a trip to Wembley and ultimately claim a place in the second tier once more.
The Owls’ 96 points tally would’ve been enough to win them the League One title in the last three (46-game) seasons so they can feel themselves a little unlucky to have to go through the play-off process this time around.
They finished a whopping 19 points ahead of tonight’s opponents Peterborough, who sneaked into 6th place at the death.
Ironically it was Wednesday’s win over Derby that helped them into the last play-off spot in the final game of the season.
Jonson Clarke-Harris notched his 26th goal of the season for Posh as they beat and he’ll be the man Wednesday will need to keep quiet tonight.
Bet365 have the Owls as marginal favourites for this one at 13/8 versus the 7/4 on Peterborough. To progress from the tie its 4/7 Wednesday, 5/4 Posh.
There’s sure to be some twists and turns along the way but the 6/4 on Sheffield Weds to gain promotion looks more than fair given the form they’ve found at the most important stage of the season and they're good enough to get a win at 13/8. Better still is the 10/11 at SBK on the Owls in the Draw No Bet market.
It’s a weekend of Glasgow Derbies and although the big one might be at Ibrox on Saturday the most important one is between Queen’s Park and Partick Thistle tonight.
Thistle appeared to be in command of the play-off tie on Tuesday night, 3-1 up heading in to the last 10 minutes, only to concede twice as Queen’s Park drew level but Brian Graham fired home from close-range to give the Jags a slender advantage ahead of tonight’s second leg at the Spiders’ temporary home, Ochilview.
Concern for Queen’s Park manager Owen will be that they’ve shipped nine goals in their last two outings but on the positive side they’ve rediscovered their touch in front of goal, scoring six in those two games having only scored four in the six matches prior to that.
The Jags are now unbeaten in seven and if they can extend that run to eight they’ll be the ones who’ll meet Ayr United in the play-off semi-final. They’re 2/5 to avoid defeat and 29/20 to win. Queens are 7/4 to claim the win. The away goals rule does not apply so a single-goal victory for the hosts will take the tie to extra-time.
After sharing seven goals on Tuesday we could be in for another goalfest tonight as Queen's Park have to go for it. Over 2.5 Goals pays 7/10. Add in BTTS and it's 10/11.

Bolton v Barnsley 3pm Saturday
Not much of a price but skybet offering 4/5 on Bolton most corners looks too good to miss. William Hill have it at 6/10, bet365 are 8/11.
Looks a decent bet based on the way they have been hitting the corner numbers the last 4 or 5 games. Last week away at Bristol Rovers they had had 4 by the 15th minute and this was a game they didn’t need to win as their playoff place was already guaranteed.
Another thing that gives confidence of this bet is that Bolton are Barnsleys bogey team, its something like 1 win in 20 years, Barnsley did get an away win this season in the FA cup mind. Bolton beat them 3-0 and a 0-0 draw in their league encounters. Bolton comfortably have beaten Barnsley in all the recent matches on the corner count, easily covering a minus 1 handicap, so you could look to see if this bet is available to increase the odds.
I was a little wary of backing Bolton corner numbers like a few weeks ago just as its a playoff so it could be a bit cagey so I think just backing Bolton to take more corners is definitely the sensible bet.
The result I’m really hoping for is a Barnsley win tomorrow as that would set up the second leg next Friday with a real reason and big confidence to back Bolton corners as they would obviously be chasing the game and having to get forward just like we saw for their final games of the regular season when they were looking to secure their play off spot and increase their goal difference.
Bolton most corners taken 4/5 skybet
Go to bet builder on 365.
Go to corners and change it to Bolton.
Change match corners to 1st 10 minutes and there lies a nice couple of options for you.
Over 1 Bolton corner odds 9
Over 2 Bolton corners odds 26
Just placed mine, so thanks for the idea.
Let’s hope for an attacking first 10 minutes
Thanks for this Evens. I had actually noticed it last night its definitely worth a few quid isn’t it. My plan was to hope Barnsley win and Bolton are chasing the game next week and was going to back it then. Might chuck a few quid on tomorrow just for fun.
All the best with your bets and fully agree about your comment below on Notts County!
I did a mixed acca last night on the 4 European games, all based on tips from Mr Fixit tips: West Ham v AZ (Over 2.5 goals); Roma (to win); Fiorentina v Basel (btts) and Juve v Leverkusen (btts). It landed with a 97th minute Juve goal to make me a tidy profit. Many thanks to everyone on here. Keep up the good work 👏🏽
Nice to hear a positive comment for a change 🤣🤣

Both halves of my bet yesterday got the BTS and over 2.5 but alas, it didn’t matter after a shortage of 1st half corners in one of the games.

Good luck to Notts County tomorrow. Nothing against Chesterfield but it will be a travesty if County don’t go up when you look how far away they and Wrexham were from the pack.
Good luck all with your bets tonight.
