Following on from this morning’s winner in South Korea, Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the full card in MLS in the early hours of Thursday morning, and I’ve highlighted one fixture in particular that appeals to me for goals.

The bottom two in the Western Conference meet at Providence Park in the early hours of Thursday morning as the Portland Timbers play host to the San Jose Earthquakes in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Phil Neville’s hosts are the joint fourth-highest scorers in MLS, slamming in 21 goals across their opening 12 matches, with 10 (48%) of them coming across their five home fixtures.
The Timbers have found the back of the net in 10 (83%) of their league contests – notching on multiple occasions in eight (67%) of them – and will be confident of maintaining their 100% record of finding the back of the net in front of their supporters against a Quakes defence that is yet to register a clean sheet in MLS this season, conceding a league-high 28 goals.
Luchi Gonzalez’s visitors have scored 20 goals across their opening 12 MLS matches this campaign, with 13 (65%) of them coming on their travels.
The Quakes have made the net bulge in 10/12 (83%) of their MLS tussles – scoring on multiple occasions in five of their last eight – and will look to get on the scoresheet for the eighth consecutive away match against a Timbers defence that is also yet to record a clean sheet in MLS this term, shipping multiple goals in each of their previous eight.

The Portland Timbers’ opening 12 MLS fixtures have been full of goals, averaging 3.83 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals banking in 10 (83%) of them, including in all five (100%) on home soil – and given the same has landed in 9/12 (75%) of The Quakes MLS contests, including in 6/7 (86%) of their road trips – I’m happy to have a punt on there being at least three strikes, with both of these high-scoring and defensively vulnerable sides getting on the scoresheet.
