After a surprise goalless draw in Philadelphia on Thursday, Friday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the opening match of Round 17 in the J1 League, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection.

Sagan Tosu will look to move further clear of the relegation places as they welcome mid-table Tokyo to the Ekimae Real Estate Stadium on Friday morning in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Kenta Kawai’s hosts have scored 21 goals across their opening 15 fixtures in the J1 League this term, with 14 (67%) of them coming on home soil.
Sagan have found the back of the net in six of their previous eight league contests – notching on multiple occasions in three (38%) of them – and will look to trouble a Tokyo defence that has recorded a solitary clean sheet in the league this season, shipping multiple in seven (47%) of them.
Peter Cklamovski’s visitors are the joint second-highest scorers in the Japanese top flight, slamming in 26 goals across their opening 16 matches, with 13 (50%) of those coming across their seven road trips.
The capital club have failed to score in just two of their league contests – notching on multiple occasions in nine (56%) of them, including in 5/7 (71%) against bottom-half sides – and and will be confident of troubling a Sagan Tosu backline that has shipped multiple goals in a league-high 11/15 (73%) of their J1 League encounters this season.

FC Tokyo’s opening 16 fixtures in the J1 League this campaign are averaging 3.19 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals banking in a league-best 12 (75%) of them.
Those numbers increase even more on their travels, with their opening seven road trips averaging an eye-catching 3.71 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals paying out in all seven (100%) of them and Over 3.5 Goals in five (71%) of them – and given there have been a minimum of three strikes in a healthy 10/15 (67%) of Sagan Tosu’s J1 League contests this term – I’m happy to have a punt on there being three or more goals in Tosu on Friday morning, with the visitors scoring at least one of them.
