Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the German Bundesliga, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

⚽️ Mainz vs Werder Bremen

🇩🇪 Bundesliga

⏰ Saturday 24 October, 14:30

Goals look on the cards at the MEWA Arena on Saturday afternoon as fifth-placed Mainz entertains eighth-placed Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga.

After being held to a frustrating goalless draw at home to newly-promoted Paderborn on the opening day of the season, Urs Fischer’s hosts have fired in an impressive 14 goals across their next five Bundesliga fixtures.

The Zero-Fivers have found the back of the net in each of their previous five Bundesliga matches – scoring on multiple occasions in three (60%) of them – and will look to continue their recent good form in front of goal against a Bremen backline that has yet to register a clean sheet in the Bundesliga this season, shipping multiple goals in each of their past three.

Daniel Thioune’s visitors have scored 12 goals across their opening five Bundesliga contests this term, with four (33%) of them coming on their travels.

The Green-Whites have found the back of the net in each of their opening six Bundesliga clashes – scoring on multiple occasions in each of their last three and four of their past five – and will also look to maintain their impressive form in front of goal against a Mainz backline that has shipped 10 goals across their previous four Bundesliga outings.

Bet of the Day

Both attacks come into this clash in good goal-scoring form, but neither has been particularly tight at the back, meaning we should see a high-scoring encounter here.

Mainz’s previous five Bundesliga fixtures have produced a staggering 24 goals, with Over 2.5 Goals landing in four (80%) of them, whilst three of their past four have also produced goals at both ends.

Werder Bremen’s opening six Bundesliga fixtures this season have averaged an eye-catching 4.00 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals landing in five (83%) of them, whilst all six (100%) have produced goals at both ends.
