After somehow falling a goal short in Dundee on Thursday night, Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the German Bundesliga, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.
⚽️ TSG Hoffenheim vs VfL Wolfsburg
🇩🇪 Bundesliga
⏰ Saturday 11 January, 14:30
Hoffenheim will look to distance themselves from the relegation places as they welcome inconsistent Wolfsburg to Sinsheim on Saturday afternoon in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Christian Ilzer’s hosts have scored 20 goals across their opening 15 matches in the Bundesliga this campaign, with an impressive 16 (80%) of them coming in front of their supporters.
Since the beginning of last season, Die Kraichgauer have found the back of the net in 22/25 (88%) of their Bundesliga contests on home soil – striking on multiple occasions in eight of the last 14 – and will look to trouble a Wolfsburg defence that has recorded just three clean sheets in the Bundesliga this season, shipping multiple goals in 8/15 (53%) of them.
Ralph Hasenhüttl’s visitors are the fourth-highest scorers in the Bundesliga this season, slamming in 32 goals across their opening 15 matches, with 18 (56%) of them coming across their seven road trips.
The Wolves have failed to score just once in the Bundesliga this season, notching on multiple occasions in 10 (67%) of them – including in 6/7 (86%) of them on their travels – and will be confident of breaching a Hoffenheim defence that has is without a clean sheet in each of their past 28 Bundesliga fixtures in front of their supporters, shipping 2+ goals in 6/8 (75%) of them this season.
Bet of the Day
Hoffenheim’s opening eight Bundesliga fixtures in front of their supporters this campaign have averaged a staggering 4.38 goals per game, with both teams obliging in seven (88%) of them, whilst six (75%) have also seen Over 2.5 Goals land.
Remarkably, since the start of last season, Both Teams to Score has paid out in 22/25 (88%) of Hoffenheim’s Bundesliga fixtures on home soil, with Over 2.5 Goals also landing in 18 (72%) of them – including in 11 of their last 13.
Wolfsburg’s opening 15 Bundesliga fixtures this campaign have averaged an eye-catching four goals per game, with Both Teams to Score banking in 12 (80%) of them – whilst 11 (73%) of them have featured at least three goals – and I’m anticipating a high-scoring encounter in Sinsheim on Saturday.
- Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals
- Pays 17/20 (William Hill)
