Euro 2024 Bet of the day

Following last night’s winner at Plymouth, Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me turn my attention to the Europa League, and there is one fixture in particular that appeals to me for goals.

⚽️ Galatasaray ?? vs Sparta Prague ??

?? Europa League

⏰ Thursday 15th February, 17:45

Turkish Giants Galatasaray welcome reigning Czechia champions Sparta Prague to their intimidating Istanbul base in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.

Galatasaray make their entrance in this season’s Europa League tomorrow night after having finished 3rd in their Champions League group. Whilst not many would’ve expected Okan Buruk’s men to have reached the last 16 of the Champions League after being paired in a group with Bayern Munich and Manchester United, they would’ve been extremely frustrated to finish in 3rd behind Danish giants København following a matchday 6 defeat in the Danish capital. Domestically, The Lions are embroiled in an exciting title race, where they currently sit two points clear of rivals Fenerbahçe, having taken 66 points from a possible 75 (W21-D3-L1).

Sparta Prague knew they were realistically in a three-way battle to reach the knockout stages of the Europa League after being drawn against Rangers, Real Betis, and maiden Cypriot champions Aris Limassol, and that’s how their group panned out. Brian Priske’s visitors defeated Aris 1-3 in Cyprus in their final group game, but Rangers' historic victory in Seville against Betis meant the Czechia side had to settle for 2nd place in the group. Like their Turkish opponents, The Rudí have been flying domestically, sitting five points clear of city-rivals Slavia, picking up 53 points from a possible 60 (W17-D2-L1).

Bet of the Day

Galatasaray have found the back of the net in all 19 matches at their Istanbul base in the league and Europe this season – notching on multiple goals in 15 of their previous 17 – and I’m backing them to score at least once against a Sparta defence without a clean sheet in each of their last four European matches this season, shipping multiple goals in 3/4 (75%) of them.

14 of Gala’s previous 16 Süper Lig/Champions League fixtures have produced a minimum of three goals – and given each of Sparta’s last four European contests have seen Over 2.5 Goals land – I’m happy to have a punt on there being at least three goals in Istanbul tomorrow, with the hosts scoring at least one.
