Football Bet of the Day 23rd august

Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the German Bundesliga, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

⚽️ VfL Wolfsburg vs FC Augsburg

?? Bundesliga

⏰ Saturday 2 November, 14:30

Two clubs separated by just two points in the Bundesliga table meet at the Volkswagen Arena on Saturday afternoon as 14th-placed Wolfsburg plays host to 12th-placed Augsburg in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.

Ralph Hasenhüttl’s hosts have slammed in 15 goals across their opening eight Bundesliga contests this term, with seven (47%) of them coming in front of their supporters.

The Wolves have found the back of the net in all bar one of their opening eight Bundesliga matches – notching on multiple occasions in six (75%) of them – and will be confident of adding to their goal-tally against an Augsburg backline that has yet to register a clean sheet in the Bundesliga this season, shipping 19 goals.

Jess Thorup’s visitors have scored 12 goals across their opening eight Bundesliga outings this campaign, with just one coming coming across their three road trips.

The Fuggerstädter have only failed to score in 4-0 defeats away at both Heidenheim and RB Leipzig – striking two or more goals in five of their other six matches – and will look to trouble a Wolfsburg defence that has kept just two clean sheets at newly-promoted pair Holstein Kiel and St Pauli respectively, conceding 16 goals.

Bet of the Day

Wolfsburg’s opening eight Bundesliga fixtures this campaign have averaged an eye-catching 3.88 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals banking in six (75%) of them, while five (63%) have featured four or more goals.

Dating back to last season, The Wolves’ previous 10 Bundesliga contests in front of their supporters have averaged a staggering 3.90 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals paying out in nine (90%) of them and Over 3.5 Goals in seven (70%).

Augsburg’s opening eight Bundesliga contests this term have averaged an impressive 3.88 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals banking in all eight (100%), whilst six (75%) have produced four or more goals.

What’s more, both meetings between the two sides last season yielded nine goals (1-3 & 3-2), with Over 3.5 Goals landing on each occasion.

Therefore, I’m happy to back the Over 2.75 Asian goal. This would mean if there are exactly three goals scored, we will receive a half-stakes winner, whilst four or more strikes will reward a full payout.

  • Over 2.75 Asian Goal Line
  • Pays 4/5 (Unibet)
