After somehow falling a goal short in Bilbao on Sunday, Tuesday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me turn my attention to the EFL, and there is one fixture in particular that appeals to me for goals.

Portsmouth will look to clinch the League One title on Tuesday as they welcome playoff hopefuls Barnsley to Fratton Park in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
John Mousinho’s hosts have scored 72 goals across their opening 43 matches in League One this term, with 39 (54%) of them coming in front of their supporters.
Pompey have made the net bulge in 18/21 (86%) of their league outings on home soil – scoring on multiple occasions in 14 (67%) of them, including in each of their last seven – and will be confident of breaching a Barnsley backline that has recorded just two clean sheets across their previous 23 league contests, shipping multiple goals in eight of their last 10.
Neill Collins’ visitors are the third-highest scorers in the English third-tier, slamming in 77 goals across their opening 43 matches, with a league-high 40 (52%) of them coming on their travels.
The Tykes have failed to score in just one of their 21 League One contests on their travels this campaign—scoring on multiple occasions in 12 (57%) of them—and will look to find the target once again against a Pompey defence that has registered just five clean sheets at home this season, with just one of those coming across their previous 12.

Barnsley’s opening 21 League One fixtures on their travels this campaign are averaging 3.10 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals banking in 11 of their previous 14 – and given the same has landed in 14 of Pompey’s last 18 league matches on home turf, including each of their previous nine – I’m happy to have a punt on there being a minimum of three strikes between these two sides, with Pompey scoring at least one of them.
