After making it back-to-back winners at Old Trafford on Thursday, Friday’s Football Bet of the Days sees me head to the National League, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

Two clubs separated by just two points in the National League table meet at The Rec on Friday afternoon as mid-table pair Aldershot and Sutton face off in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Tommy Widdrington’s hosts are the fourth-highest scorers in the National League, slamming in 66 goals across their opening 42 matches, with 39 (59%) of them coming on home soil.
The Shots have found the back of the net in 22 of their previous 25 league outings, notching 2+ goals in 16 (64%) of them – including in 10 of their past 12 at home – and will be confident of continuing their excellent goal-scoring record against a Sutton backline that’s kept just five clean sheets on their travels this season, shipping 18 goals across their past 10 road trips.
Steve Morison’s visitors have scored 54 goals across their opening 42 National League fixtures this season, with 28 (52%) of them coming on their travels.
The Amber and Chocolates have found the back of the net in 34 (81%) of their National League contests this campaign – including in 17/21 (81%) on their travels – and will be confident of breaching a Shots defence that’s kept just seven clean sheets in the National League this season, with only the bottom two shipping more than the 74 they have let in.

Aldershot’s opening 42 National League fixtures this season have averaged a league-high 3.33 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals paying out in a joint league-best 26 (62%) of them – including in 14/21 (67%) of them on home soil.
Those numbers have risen in recent months, with their previous 25 National League contests averaging a whopping 3.68 goals per game, with 19 (76%) seeing a minimum of three goals, including 10 of their past 12 in front of their supporters.
Sutton’s opening 21 National League contests on the road this season have averaged 2.86 goals per game – with Over 2.5 Goals paying out in each of their last four and seven of their past 10 – and I’m anticipating a high-scoring encounter between these two sides at The Rec on Friday.
