Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me return to the MLS, and I’ve highlighted one fixture in particular that appeals to me for goals.

Two of the most out-of-form sides in the Eastern Conference do battle at BMO Field on Saturday night/Sunday morning as ninth-placed Toronto plays host to 14th-placed Philadelphia Union in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
John Herdman’s hosts have scored 30 goals across their opening 23 matches in the MLS this term, with 21 (70%) of them coming on home soil.
The Reds have found the back of the net in each of their opening 11 (100%) encounters in front of their supporters – notching on multiple occasions in five (45%) of them – and will be confident of preserving that record against a Union backline that has registered just two clean sheets on their travels this term shipping at least two goals in five of their last seven.
Jim Curtin’s visitors have scored 36 goals across their opening 22 matches in the MLS this term, with a joint league-high 23 (64%) of them coming on their travels.
The Union have made the net bulge in all bar one of their opening 11 road trips – remarkably scoring two or more goals in nine of their last 10 – and will be confident of continuing their fine goal-scoring record away from home against a Toronto defence that is without a clean sheet across their previous seven home matches in the MLS, conceding an eye-watering 17 goals.

The Union’s opening 11 MLS encounters on their travels this campaign are averaging a staggering 4.00 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals banking in eight of their previous 10 – and given the same has landed in each of Toronto’s last seven MLS tussles on home soil, as well as eight of their previous nine – I’m happy to have a punt on there being a minimum of three strikes in Ontario in the early hours of Sunday morning, with both of these struggling sides scoring.
