Euro 2024 Bet of the day

Following last night’s winner at Fratton Park, Wednesday's Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the Champions League quarter-final at The Etihad in what promises to be another thriller.

⚽️ Manchester City 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 vs Real Madrid 🇪🇸

🇪🇺 Champions League

⏰ Wednesday 17th April, 20:00

Current Champions League holders Manchester City welcome record champions Real Madrid to The Etihad in the second leg of their quarter-final in a fixture that, once again, I’m expecting to see goals in.

Manchester City saw their 100% record in this season’s Champions League come to an end last week following that entertaining 3-3 draw in the first leg at the Bernabéu, but they did maintain their remarkable record of scoring at least three times in all nine of their Champions League fixtures this campaign. Domestically, things couldn’t have gone any better for Pep Guardiola’s side at the weekend, as not only did they thrash lowly Luton 5-1 on Saturday, but they saw both their title rivals Arsenal and Liverpool fall to surprise defeats at home on Sunday, meaning they now sit two points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

Like their opponents, Carlo Ancelotti’s men remain unbeaten in the Champions League (W7-D2-L0) following that six-goal thriller in the first leg last week, with the competition’s record champions banging in an impressive 21 goals across their opening nine matches, highlighting their threat going forward. Domestically, Los Blancos will head into this weekend's El Clásico still eight points clear of their Catalan rivals at the top of the La Liga table, thanks to their 0-1 victory at Son Moix against Mallorca at the weekend.

Bet of the Day

Manchester City’s opening nine Champions League fixtures this campaign are averaging a staggering 4.33 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals clicking in eight (89%) of them – and given the same has landed in 5/9 (56%) of Real Madrid’s Champions League contests, including in 3/4 (75%) of them away from the Bernabéu – I’m hoping we see a similarly high-scoring and entertaining affair to the first leg last week.
