Following Wednesday’s lack of goals at Port Vale, Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the Scottish Premiership, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

It’s also Derby Day in Dundee on Thursday as Dundee welcome near-neighbours Dundee United to Dens Park in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Tony Docherty’s hosts are the fourth-highest scorers in the Scottish Premiership, slamming in 29 goals across their opening 19 matches, with an impressive 20 (69%) of them coming on home soil.
The Dark Blues have made the net bulge in all bar one of their opening nine league outings in front of their supporters – notching on multiple occasions in six (67%) of them – and will look to trouble a Dundee United defence that’s kept just two clean sheets on their travels this season and none in their past five.
Jim Goodwin’s visitors have scored 28 goals across their opening 19 Premiership fixtures this campaign, with 13 (46%) of them coming on their travels.
The Tangerines have failed to score in just three of their league outings – notching on multiple occasions in eight (42%) of them – and will be confident of breaching a Dundee defence that has registered a solitary shutout in the league this season, shipping multiple goals in six of their previous eight at Dens Park.

Dundee’s opening 19 contests in the Scottish Premiership this season have averaged a league-high 3.32 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals paying out in 13 (68%) of them.
Those numbers rise even further when playing at home, with their nine Premiership fixtures at Dens Park averaging a staggering 4.11 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals banking in all nine (100%) of them
The previous league meeting between the pair was an entertaining 2-2 draw at Tannadice on the opening day of the season – and given there have been 10 goals scored in Dundee United’s past two road trips – I’m hoping we see another high-scoring affair in a fixture that does tend to produce.
