Football Bet of the Day

After making it seven winners from the past eight at Montrose on Saturday, Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me delve into the Nations League, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

⚽️ Germany vs Italy (2-1 Aggregate)

🇪🇺 Nations League

⏰ Sunday 23 March, 19:45

Three days on from their success in Milan, Germany welcome Italy to Dortmund on Sunday night in the second leg of their Nations League quarter-final tie in a fixture that once again appeals to me for goals at both ends.

Julian Nagelsmann’s hosts scored 20 goals across their seven Nations League fixtures this campaign, with 13 (65%) of them coming on home soil.

Die Mannschaft have found the back of the net in all bar one of their previous 10 Nations League contests in front of their supporters – striking on multiple occasions in six (60%) of them – and will look to trouble an Azzuri defence that has recorded a solitary shutout across their past nine Nations League fixtures, shipping 2+ goals in five (56%) of them.

Luciano Spalletti’s visitors have fired in 14 goals across their seven Nations League contests this term, with six (43%) of them coming across their three away matches.

The Azzuri have found the back of the net in each of their previous 12 Nations League matches – notching on multiple occasions in seven (58%) of them – and will look to breach a Germany defence that has kept just three clean sheets across their previous 22 Nations League fixtures.

Bet of the Day

Germany’s previous 21 Nations League fixtures have averaged an eye-catching 3.57 goals per game, with an impressive 16 (76%) of them featuring goals at both ends.

Italy’s previous nine Nations League contests have averaged an impressive 3.56 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score landing in eight (89%) of them.

What’s more, eight of the last nine meetings between the sides since Italy’s 2-0 success in the semi-final of the 2006 World Cup have produced goals at both ends – including on Thursday night where I correctly backed both to score – and backing both teams to score in Dortmund on Sunday night appeals to me once again.
