Following the surprise lack of goals in Bergamo on Wednesday, Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the Conference League and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

Two clubs who made winning starts to the new league phase of the Conference League meet at the Stelios Kyriakides Stadium on Thursday evening as Cypriot side Pafos FC plays host to German side Heidenheim in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Pafos have scored 37 goals across their opening 16 matches in the Cypriot top flight and in Europe this season, with 24 (65%) of them coming on home soil.
Juan Carlos Carcedo’s hosts have found the back of the net in all bar one of their past 15 matches in all competitions – notching on multiple occasions in 10 (67%) of them – and will look to trouble a Heidenheim defence that has conceded in four of their last five Bundesliga matches, as well as in all three of their European contests.
Heidenheim have scored 19 goals across their opening 10 matches in the league and Europe this term, with 10 (53%) of them coming on their travels.
Frank Schmidt’s visitors have found the back of the net in all bar two of those matches – notching on multiple occasions in eight (80%) of them, including in all five (100%) on their travels – and will be expected to continue their fine goal-scoring run of form against their Cypriot opponents.

Pafos’s opening 16 matches in the Cypriot First Division and in Europe have averaged 3.44 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals paying out in 13 (81%) of them.
Those numbers rise when playing in Europe, with their nine European contests averaging 3.56 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals paying out in eight (89%) of them – and given the same has landed in 7/10 (70%) of Heidenheim matches in the Bundesliga and Conference League this season, including in 3/3 (100%) in Europe – I’m happy to have a punt on these two sides producing a minimum of three strikes in Cyprus on Thursday.
