Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me stay in the MLS and there’s a fixture that appeals to me for goals. To boost the price up, I’ve added in a cards-based angle to form an appealing looking bet builder.
Atlanta United vs Real Salt Lake
🇺🇸 MLS
⏰ Thursday 14th July, 00:30
Out-of-form Atlanta play host to poor traveler’s Real Salt Lake at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in the early hours of Thursday morning in a Cross-Conference clash.
Atlanta suffered their third defeat from their last four matches last time out, as they were beaten 0-3 at home to high-flying Austin FC. Gonzalo Pineda’s side were unbeaten in their opening six fixtures at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium (W3-D3-L0), but come into this having lost two of their last three in-front of their own supporters. The Five Stripes have registered just three clean sheets all season and come into this having conceded on multiple occasions in nine of their last 11 fixtures, including in each of their last four. Prior to that blank against Austin last time out, Atlanta had scored in each of their last 10 MLS matches, as well as in 7/8 at home, finding the back of the net 17 times. Atlanta have been carded in 17/18 of their MLS fixtures this season, whilst their opponents have received multiple cards in 16 of those matches.
Real Salt Lake threw away a two-goal lead at home to Rocky Mountain rivals Colorado Rapids last time out to draw 2-2, conceding the equaliser on the 89th minute. Pablo Mastroeni’s side has won just one of their last eight matches on their travels, with their 3-2 defeat at Minnesota United in their last away fixture meaning they’ve lost three of their last four. RSL have kept just one clean sheet in their last nine fixtures on the road, conceding 18 times in that run. Real Salt Lake have found the back of the net in seven of their last eight league matches, scoring on multiple occasions in six of them. The Claret and Cobalt have drawn a card from 17/19 of their opponents this season, whilst they have been shown multiple cards in 15 of those matches, including in 9/10 away from home.
Bet of the Day
Atlanta United come into this in poor form, winning just one of their last eight in the league, but they host a Real Salt Lake side that’s won just one of their last eight away from home. Gonzalo Pineda’s hosts have scored in 10 of their last 11 MLS fixtures and will look to breach a Real Salt Lake defence that’s conceded in eight of their last nine on the road. However, Pablo Mastroeni’s visitors have scored in seven of their last eight and they should net against an Atlanta defence that’s kept just one clean sheet in their last 11. The Five Stripes have been carded in 17/18 of their MLS tussles this season, whilst RSL have received multiple cards in 9/10 of their matches on their travels. Therefore, I’m happy to combine both sides to get on the scoresheet with Atlanta to receive a card and Real Salt Lake to get at least two to form a solid looking bet builder.
