Following the shortage of goals in Finland on Tuesday, Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to La Liga, and I’ve highlighted a fixture that appeals to me for both goals and cards.

One of La Liga’s entertainers, Villarreal, will look to continue their impressive start to the season as they travel to Catalonia tomorrow evening to take on newly promoted Espanyol at the RCDE Stadium in a fixture that appeals to me for both goals and cards.
Manolo González’s hosts have scored six goals across their opening six matches since their immediate return to the Spanish top flight, with five (83%) of them coming across their past two league outings on home soil.
After failing to score in each of their opening three La Liga matches, Los Periquitos have found the back of the net in each of their next three – striking on multiple occasions in each of their last two at home – and will look to continue their improvement in front of goal against a Villarreal defence that is yet to register a clean sheet this season, with only Real Valladolid (15) conceding more than the 13 they have shipped.
Marcelino’s visitors have slammed in 12 goals across their opening six La Liga contests this term, with five (42%) of them coming across their three road trips.
The Yellow Submarine have found the back of the net in each of their opening six La Liga fixtures – striking on multiple occasions in four (67%) of them – and will look to continue their impressive record in front of goal against an Espanyol defence that has kept a solitary shutout since promotion, shipping seven goals across their last three matches.

Villarreal’s opening six La Liga contests this season have averaged an eye-catching 4.17 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score banking in all six (100%) of them – and given Espanyol have seen a whopping 13 goals in their next three matches, with both obliging in each of them – I’m happy to back both of these sides finding the target in Catalonia on Thursday.
Villarreal’s opening six La Liga contests are averaging a staggering 7.00 cards per game, with both sides receiving one in all six (100%) of their matches – and given the same has also landed in 5/6 (83%) of Espanyol’s La Liga match-ups – we should also see a card-heavy game.
