Following on from Monday night’s winner, Tuesday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me stay in the Copa America, and I’ve come up with a way to get the reigning champions on side.
⚽️ Chile ?? vs Argentina ??
? Copa America ?
⏰ Wednesday 26th June, 02:00
Pre-tournament favourites and reigning champions Argentina will look to make it two wins from two as they face an ageing Chile side – and I’m backing the Argentinians to claim a low-scoring victory.
The reigning Copa America head into the tournament in great form, with Lionel Scaloni’s men winning 20 of their previous 21 internationals, with their solitary defeat in that run coming in a 0-2 defeat against Uruguay in World Cup qualification.
Despite that defeat, the reigning World Champions top the CONMEBOL table, two points clear of 2nd-placed Uruguay, winning each of their other five qualifiers.
Despite their plethora of attacking ability, La Albiceleste have scored just eight goals across their six WCQs, but like their Copa America opener, have kept five (83%) clean sheets.
The two-time Copa America winners began their campaign with a goalless draw with Peru in what was a pretty dull affair.
Ricardo Gareca’s men have had a pretty poor start to their World Cup qualifying campaign, as they’ve won just one and drawn two of their opening six qualifiers (W1-D2-L3), with their solitary victory coming in a 2-0 home win against the bottom side Peru.
Goals have been a real issue in qualification for Chile, with La Roja scoring just three times across their six qualifiers – with two (67%) of them coming in that win over the Peruvians – conceding seven times.
Bet of the Day
As already alluded to, Argentina heads into this clash in scintillating form, with the World Champions winning 20 of their previous 21 internationals since their shock World Cup defeat to Saudi Arabia.
What’s more, 15 of those victories featured fewer than four goals, including their five wins in World Cup qualification and their Copa America opener – and given Chile’s lack of goals in their matches – I’m happy to have a punt on La Albiceleste to pick up all three points in a fixture featuring under four strikes.
