FPL TIPS 22.png

In this article, we have provided our Fantasy Premier League tips & predictions ahead of Gameweek 22 of the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game.

Gameweek 22 boasts some very interesting fixtures as the Premier League title race heats up, with league leaders Liverpool facing a potentially tricky trip to Brentford, while challengers Arsenal play host to Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium, a fixture they crucially lost 2-0 towards the back end of the 2023/24 campaign as Manchester City beat them to the title.

Here are our latest FPL tips that should hopefully help make all of those informed transfer, chip and captaincy decisions needed ahead of the deadline…

Our Fantasy Premier League tips

FPL gives out points based on player performances, which can be both positive and negative. It can range from a player scoring a goal (positions are given more points than others, for example a defender will gain six points for scoring a goal as opposed to four for a forward) or being shown a yellow card (-1pt), as well as many other metrics.

Who to have as FPL captain

In Gameweek 22, if you own him, Mohamed Salah is perhaps the most viable captaincy option given his irresistible form for Liverpool so far this season, while Chelsea talisman Cole Palmer is thought to be a doubt for Chelsea for their game against Wolves at Stamford Bridge.

However, for those who do not own Salah or want to pick a differential captain, Manchester City forward Erling Haaland (£14.8m) could be a great option as the reigning champions travel to a struggling Ipswich Town team in the relegation zone.

Should the triple-captain chip be used?

Assuming that Salah is the most viable captain choice in Gameweek 22, using the triple-captain chip on him could seem tempting given the big FPL hauls that we know that he is capable of, added to the fact that Liverpool are away at a Brentford team that have not won at home in their last four matches.

However, we would advise, if it has not been used already, to use the chip in a double gameweek, where teams play more than one fixture and therefore give more of a chance of a big points haul for the captain.

Who is likely to get booked?

Given that Diogo Jota has picked up another injury for Liverpool, Cody Gakpo (£7.4m) should be nailed on to start. For those FPL managers who cannot quite afford Mohamed Salah, Gakpo is a great alternative to still get a slice of the Reds attack, but the Netherlands international is prone to a booking, having picked up a total of four yellow cards so far in the Premier League.

Market-best odds on Cody Gakpo to be booked: 10/1

Which defender is most likely to score?

Brazil international Gabriel Magalhaes (£6.4m) is always a safe bet for a defender to score from the back. He already boasts three goals so far in the Premier League, and played a key part in Arsenal's opener against bitter North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur as the Gunners won 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium, with Aston Villa the next team to visit them over the weekend.

Market-best odds on Gabriel Magalhaes to score anytime: 15/2

Our top three cheap in-form players

Anthony Elanga

Nottingham Forest are flying in the Premier League, and Anthony Elanga (£5.3m) has played a large part in that in recent weeks. The midfielder has scored a total of 45 points across the last six gameweeks in FPL, as the Tricky Trees welcome rock-bottom Southampton to the City Ground over the weekend.

Ola Aina

Ola Aina also plays for Forest and is also priced at £5.3m in FPL. Nuno Espirito Santo's side will be confident of a clean sheet at home to the Saints, and as an attacking full-back, Aina could also be confident of potential attacking returns.

Amad Diallo

Amad Diallo (£5.5m) will be a popular pick after his inspired hat-trick for Manchester United in their 3-1 win against Southampton at Old Trafford. The midfielder is still at a reasonable price in FPL, and who would back against him to score again at home to Brighton and Hove Albion this weekend?
