Expert football pools betting tips

With international football taking over for the week, there is no action from the Premier League or Championship this weekend but that doesn't mean to say that football pools competitions aren't continuing this weekend.

Many different pools groups are still running with the focus on action in Leagues One and Two. A smaller pool of matches to choose from has the potential to cause some headaches but luckily, there are still plenty of fixtures that have score draws written all over them.

The aim with the football pools this week is, as ever, to accumulate the most points from the scoring system outlined below:

  • Score draw: 3 points
  • No-score draw (0-0): 2 points
  • Home or away win: 1 point

With that in mind, here are our football pools betting tips for the weekend.

Our expert football pools betting tips

Northampton vs Blackpool (League One)

Northampton take on Blackpool in League One on Saturday in a match between two sides that have combined for 27 draws so far this season. The only side to have drawn more matches than Northampton in League One this season are Blackpool so this is a very strong pick for a draw this weekend.

To emphasise the point, in the reverse fixture back in November the match finished all square so if you are going to select any match as your banker on the football pools this weekend then you will do well to find better than this one.

Wrexham vs Stockport County (League One)

Elsewhere in League One, a huge match in the race for promotion is set to take place in North Wales as Wrexham host Stockport County. Both clubs have enjoyed back-to-back promotions in recent seasons so they know each other extremely well which makes this a tough match to call a winner.

As things stand, just two places and six points separate the two sides so they remain as evenly matched as they have been in recent years. Stockport are also a side that are trending when it comes to draws, with two of their last three league matches finishing level.

Notts County vs Crewe (League Two)

Down in League Two, Notts County will take on Crewe Alexandra in a match between two teams battling it out for a place in the playoffs. Just four points and three places separate them after 37 games which goes a long way to illustrating just how even this clash is on paper.

Interstingly, both outfits are guilty of too many draws this season with several points left out on the field. In total, they have combined for 25 draws so far with Crewe drawing their two most recent League Two matches.

Carlisle vs Bromley (League Two)

Our final pools tip of the week comes from relegation battle in League Two. Bromley, who came up last year, have seemingly done enough to beat the drop but Carlisle are still in the thick of it and with a place in the football league at stake, the Cumbrians need points.

Unfortunately for Carlisle, winning matches is proving very difficult for them so the best they can hope for on Saturday is more than likely a draw. They have drawn two of their last five matches while Bromley drew their most recent clash last weekend.
