MFT TopTips ChampionsLeague Safe

THE UEFA Champions League is back with a bang tonight as two blockbuster games kick off the quarter-final action.

Manchester City's clash with Real Madrid is worthy of the final itself and the bookies make the holders massive 1/2 favourites to reach the last four.

But Atletico Madrid are the only team to have beaten Carlo Ancelotti's men all season and Real's star-studded attack could get some joy against a defence that leaked two goals to Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Vinicius Junior has the pace and trickery to cause some damage in the first leg at the Bernabeu and the Brazilian is 6/5 at SkyBet to either score or assist.

Arsenal host Bayern Munich in tonight's other Champions League clash and the Germans giants appear to be in disarray after losing to minnows Heidenheim at the weekend.

Their Bundesliga crown is as good as gone so a European triumph is their only chance of glory this season but the Gunners are 8/13 favourites (William Hill) to reach the semis with Bayern at 6/4 (Bet365).

Mikel Arteta has been playing it pretty cagey in the big games and first legs can often take time to warm up so it might pay to back under 2.5 goals in the first leg at 6/5 with Unibet.

Harry Kane will be the pantomime villain as the former Spurs striker returns to London and he's 21/10 with Bet365 to silence the boo boys with a goal. For a longer-odds punt it might be worth backing the England captain to pick up a card (13/2, Bet365) as he could be fired up too much.

It's another big night in the EFL Championship and leaders Leicester will be looking to continue their recent revival with a win away at Millwall.

The Lions have gone four without a win and have lost to struggling Rotherham and Huddersfield in their last two outings so Leicester are heavy favourites at a best 7/10 (Coral). Backing the Foxes at -1 in the corner handicap (21/20, BetVictor) is better value after racking up 19 corners in their last two outings.

Third-placed Leeds host a Sunderland team in terrible form and red-hot Crysencio Summerville appeals for a goal at 7/5 (Bet365) after scoring twice in his last two outings.

Super Singles

  • Vinicius Junior goal or assist 6/5 SkyBet
  • Leicester -1 corner h'cap 21/10 BetVictor

Long shot

  • Harry Kane to be carded 13/2 Bet365

After missing out by one goal in both games yesterday I’m again on the lookout for goals. Today I’m heading to Estonia where Levadia host flora in the cup.
Starting with recent h2hs and 8/10have seen over 2.5mgls.
The real clincher for me tho is recent results. The league is 5 games in and already Levadia have scored 21 while conceding once. Flora have seen o2.5 in 3 games.
I will probably go small stakes as it’s early in the season.
    O2.5mgls @ 5/6 seems very generous.
Levadia to win & o2.5mgls is another I will keep my eye on for when the market is added.
    Good luck all

For those preferring to bet on the more popular games I was also tempted by the odds on offer at real-man city.
With both attacks being quality whilst having defensive issues the btts+o2.5 @ evens seems a very good price.

    Arsenal v Bayern Munich
Arsenal to win -1 Asian Handicap at 2.150 (NAP)
Harry Kane to be carded at 13/2
Eric Dier to be carded at 7/2 (if he starts)

Keep league form separate from domestic as there’s no doubt Bayern will be up for this and they do have bags more experience at this level than Arsenal do, however we can’t overlook Arsenal’s defence which is pretty much water tight and whilst it’s that way and before the Injuries occur (which is inevitable) I’m more than happy to take Arsenal to win by more than 1 goal. The beauty of this bet is if they only win by 1 goal we get our stake back. Arsenal will be looking for a big result here as they are in a 3 way fight for the premier league title, anything less than a win means they won’t be able to rest or rotate for the second leg which in turn could hinder their League title bid. Arsenal win for me.

    CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

Some lip smacking odds on champions league player fouls markets tonight and that’s where I will be looking for my selections tonight, both ties look great on paper but I get a funny feeling tonights opening legs will both be fairly turgid and I won’t be brave enough to back goals. All bets with paddy power for 90 min guarantee. Such a shame they’ve scheduled these two matches at the same time I feel cheated

HARRY KANE to commit a foul
    7/5 SUPER NAP

DE BRUYNE / RICE to commit foul

Next Man Utd manager Graham Potter at 5/2 skybet best price 4/1 paddy power.
Potter turned down Ajax which is a big job, surely there must be something bigger In the pipeline if he’s turning down Ajax. He’s currently second favourite with Gareth Southgate favourite but I just can’t see Southgate leaving the England job.

    • Avatar of MrBigChug
      MrBigChug 8 months ago

Yeh agreed Southgate won’t be leaving England job until after euros. Would that leave him enough time to prepare with united for new season if he had agreed. Unlikely. I think it’s almost certain that rumblings from above around Ten Haag and his future though wouldn’t surprise me if someone else was in charge next season at all

    • Avatar of mark edley
      maccathered 8 months ago

Ten Hag won’t be in charge next season unless they qualify for the Champions League, that’s looking very unlikely. For Man Utd it’s a disaster missing the first new formatted Champions League at any big club it’s unacceptable especially given the money he’s spent. Whist sacking him would probably mean less finances on new players do we really think the new co owners would trust/risk Ten Hag being in charge next season.

    • Avatar of MrBigChug

No I completely agree Macca. I would say it is still up for debate even if he gets them champions league. Although I suspect that will be the mark for him.

For all that EtH is struggling, and I do think we need a change in the dug out, Graham Potter would be a step backwards imo, so I hope you’re wrong 🤦🏻‍♂️
