SlipsTips shares his favourite fancy from Saturday's SPFL slate, with Airdrie's meeting with Montrose in Scottish league One under the microscope.
Airdrie vs Montrose (Saturday, 15:00)
Airdrie will be looking to extend their winning run in Scottish League One to five matches when they meet Montrose at the Penny Cars Stadium on Saturday.
Rhys McCabe’s men solidified their place in the top-four by battling to a 1-0 win at fellow playoff hopefuls Alloa last Saturday.
As for Montrose, their top-four hopes are hanging by a thread following a 1-1 draw at FC Edinburgh last time out.
Airdrie are worthy favourites here at 5/6 but I’m more attracted to the 17/20 (William Hill) about the home team scoring two or more goals on Saturday.
The Diamonds boast the deadliest attack in the division, having banged in a whopping 71 strikes across their 31 league games thus far.
Granted, Airdrie only managed to score once at Alloa last weekend, but they made the trip to Recreation Park having racked up eye-watering 18 strikes across their previous three league games.
While Montrose are a hard working outfit who never go down without a fight, they have only managed to keep the back door closed in one of their last eight league games.
What’s more, the Gable Endies have conceded two goals or more in four of their last eight matches, which doesn’t augur well ahead of a trip to the most potent attack in the third tier.
It's also worth pointing out that Airdrie have already clocked up 10 goals across their previous three meetings with Stewart Petrie's side this season, scoring exactly four goals in each of the last two encounters between the pair.
With that in mind, coupled with the fact that this bet would have paid out in four of Airdrie's last five league games, backing the attack-minded Diamonds to deliver another double on Saturday stands out at 17/20 (William Hill).
Recommended Bet
- Over 1.5 Airdrie Goals – 17/20 (William Hill)
