CALEY THISTLE host high-flying Partick Thistle in a Friday night crunch in the Scottish Championship.
The battle of the Jags is a repeat of last season's play-offs where Inverness comfortably beat the Maryhill side home and away.
But Partick have recruited well over the summer and brought in a host of tried and trusted players at this level who have course and distance in the Championship.
It's resulted in Ian McCall's men topping the table after eight games, although ICT would draw level with a win on Friday.
Billy Dodds' side have blown hot and cold this season, but there have been plenty of signs recently they are settling down into mounting a challenge to return to the top flight.
They've won three in a row all away from home at Dundee, Raith Rovers and Ayr United and that's an impressive run in this league.
Curiously, they have not been at their best in the Highlands though having lost to Morton and even drawn with Highland League Brechin City in the Challenge Cup.
Thistle have been flying too recently having won four and drawn one of their last five league games, which included 4-1 thumpings of Inverness at Firhill and a 5-1 win over Morton last weekend.
How the bookies view it
Inverness are narrow outsiders most place, but a hunt around sees them at 7/4 with bet365 and Partick Thistle can also be backed at 7/4 with UniBet.
The draw is 11/5 with McBookie.com.
Recent head to heads
Partick hammered Inverness 4-1 earlier this season in Glasgow, but ICT won both play-off matches last season as stated.
Players to watch
Billy McKay has been a prolific scorer in Scotland for years. The Northern Irishman is 33 now but is still banging them in and can be backed at 21/10 to score anytime with Coral.
Brian Graham is also at the veteran stage at 34, but he is vital for the Glasgow Jags with six goals already this season. He is 7/4 with Paddy Power to score anytime.
Anything else catch the eye?
With both teams in excellent recent form, you could easily make a case for either side to win this. Therefore, the obvious call here is a draw.
Inverness have turned the corner and are on a great run, but so are Partick and there is a suspicion here that neither side would be too unhappy at a share of the points given it's likely these teams and Dundee will be battling it out for the title.
There's plenty of attacking talent on the pitch with the likes of Scott Tiffoney and Cameron Harper and it should be an exciting game with both teams having plenty of goals in them and both teams to score at a generous 5/6 with bet365 looks a solid shout too.
