THE race for European places is hotting up and this clash between Burnley and Wolves could have a huge bearing on qualification for both the Europa League and the Champions League.
The Molineux men still harbour hopes of claiming a seat at Europe's top table next season and head into this clash boosted by an impressive 3-0 weekend win over Everton.
But if they are to gatecrash the top four they will need to see off a Burnley side who continue to defy the odds as they chase down a place in the Europa League.
The Clarets became the first English side to take something from Anfield this season when they held new champions Liverpool to a 1-1 draw on Saturday.
That made it five games unbeaten for Sean Dyche's side since they returned from lockdown by suffering a 5-0 thumping at the hands of Manchester City.
They have only conceded twice since then so the Wolves attack will need to be at their sharpest to take anything from this game.
How the bookies view it
This is a tough one to call but the bookies make the Molineux men favourites at evens with most firms. Burnley are as big as 18/5 with VBet while the draw is 23/10 at Genting.
I'm wary of betting against the Clarets as that came back to bite me recently in their games with Watford and Crystal Palace. Dyche's side are 10/11 with SportNation in the double chance market, which covers a win and a draw, so that might be a good option.
Recent head to head
There hasn't been much between these sides in recent years, with their last five meetings producing three draws and a win a piece. It finished 1-1 at Molineux when they faced off earlier this season (below), with Raul Jimenez levelling at the death from the spot.
Burnley came out on top when Wolves visited Turf Moor last season as a Conor Coady own goal and Dwight McNeill strike sealed a 2-0 win for the Clarets. Wolves last won in Burnley a decade ago, claiming a 2-1 victory.
Players to watch
Burnley's injury worries are easing a little with Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Chris Wood now back in action. But their main man has been Jay Rodriguez who scored again at Anfield on Saturday.
The former Southampton forward has three goals in his last four games and looks overpriced at 7/2 with 888Sport for another strike here.
Adama Traore should return for Wolves after starting on the bench against Everton and his pace always makes him a huge threat. The Spaniard is also 7/2 for a goal at Paddy Power and that looks good value.
Anything else catch the eye?
Burnley's recent games haven't been thrillers, with their last five matches all seeing under 2.5 goals. A repeat here pays just 4/7 with Genting but the odds increase to 7/4 with Paddy Power if you back under 1.5 goals.
Paddy Power are also offering 7/5 on the score being 0-0 at half-time and that might be worth a punt as the teams size each other up.
