Roger Varian’s filly just lost out to Grinling in a driving finish at Windsor eight days ago and she can break her duck at the main expense of Mark Johnston’s Redcar runner-up Marie’s Gem.

In the mile handicap, Varian also saddles a warm order in Motamayiz, so impressive when landing the odds over course and distance last Thursday. At more appealing odds DARTINGTON (4.15) is capable of giving the favourite a scare judged on his recent Lingfield success. Marcus Tregoning’s colt travelled strongly throughout and the yard has enjoyed plenty of local success over the years at Bath.
