PORTO showed how difficult it is to come out of cold storage as they were shocked 3-1 at Famalicao.
With just a one point lead at the top it was a result they needed as much as no fans to cheer them on.
On Thursday there are three more Portuguese games with title challengers Benfica at home to Tondela as well as Maritimo vs Setubal and Guimaraes vs Sporting.
Benfica will leapfrog Porto with a win but are of course a short price.
There are also matches in the Czech Rep, Poland and Estonia and I've picked a double from Portugal but it's risky and has to be for low stakes.
Benfica are no bigger than 1-6 to beat Tondela so value is tough to find. Tondela have won just once at home but five times on the road. They are winless in five though, scoring just twice, so every chance the home men can cover the -1 handicap but that pays just 8-15 at bet365 although theur rivals are rarely heavily beaten.
Maritimo vs Vitoria Setubal features two teams off form with Maritimo having one win in six and Vitoria none. I'd like to back Maritimo, who have lost one in six on the h2h, but it's too risky at a shade over odds on.
Guimaraes vs Sporting is much more interesting. Sporting are 18 points off the pace and just five clear of their opponents who have lost this fixture just once in five seasons – although that was 5-0.
Sporting have lost their last two away games 3-1 at Famalicao and 4-1 at Basaksehir in the Europa League. Guimaraes have won four of their last five with only defeat coming against Porto and I fancy them to win or draw at 2-5 with bet365.
Porto beat me last night after Hannover's easy win and the other team I suggested, courtesy of Alex, also came up trumps with Plzen winning 2-0.
