The Etihad, Monday, 8pm, live on Sky Sports 1

IT'S a game we hoped would be a title decider and after many twists and turns in the title race we've got our way.

If Man United win it's all over as they will need just a point from their last two matches against Sunderland and Swansea.

A draw will also suit Sir Alex Ferguson but it's win or bust for Man City who will move top on goal difference if they can pick up the points.

With a tough trip to Newcastle to follow it really is last-chance saloon for Roberto Mancini's men.

Defensively United need to tighten up after conceding four goals at home to Everton last week.

But in their favour is the fact they've been over the course time and again while City looked nervy at Wolves last week after Everton's late equaliser handed them a route back into the title race.

So how's it going to pan out over 90 minutes? Well, obviously it's a tough one to call.

City's home record is incredible, 16 wins and one draw from 17, but crucially they lost at home to United in the FA Cup.

That result came after City's 6-1 league win at Old Trafford so this could go either way.

I'm tempted to take the draw at 5-2 with Paddy Power but I'm not one for sitting on the fence so I'm siding with United at 5-2 with BetVictor. City are a biggest 5-4 at Paddy Power and William Hill.

My thinking is City need to go for goals at some stage and it's the perfect scenario for a United side who can hit them hard on the counter with the likes of Wayne Rooney and Antonio Valencia in top form.

Rooney has struck four times in his last five competitive appearances against City and is 7-1 with William Hill to break the deadlock, 2-1 to net at any time.

Sergio Aguero is a 7-1 chance and 2-1 at any time having netted on both times he's faced United. The script could be written for Carlos Tevez, also 7-1 with William Hill to break the deadlock and 2-1 to score, with the ex-United star back in favour and back among the goals.

If I'm not sure about the winner surely there will be goals with 17 scored in the last three meetings. Over 3.5 pays 2-1 with William Hill and Betfred while both teams to score is just
4-7 at William Hill, Paddy Power and others.

There has been a red in the last three showdowns and with tensions sure to be running high another is a possibility. Betfred go 9-4 a red card is flashed.

United remain pretty short at 1-2 with Coral to win the title with City 7-4 at bet365.

Recommendations

Rooney to score

(2-1, William Hill)

Aguero to score

(2-1, William Hill)

Red card

(9-4, Betfred)

Danny, should be a cracker especially if there’s an early goal. Right, off to the golf to mull over the game for another four hours.

Mr f i am sure betfred was doing 9/1 on rooney and aguero to score anytime? bookies took a bashing yesterday i think. made some of my money back been a poor few weeks! could have been made even better but unlucky scott on the 5 fold btts. good effort mate.

    Over 3.5 goals 2/1
    Red card 9/4
    Tevez/aguero anytime

I’m also thinking IF it is an action packed game surely adding man u and man city to score both halves @ 3/1 and 2/1 respectively isn’t a bad punt in that accumulator?

£10 pays £720 I know it’s a long shot but if it’s 1-1 minimum before half time and then again plus more in second half.

To cover a crazy bet I’m going safer with

    Both teams to score
    Over 2.5

    £10 returns 32.20

What do u guys think on anytime goal scorers? Looked at nani 5/1

    • Avatar of Mr Fixit

Paul Scholes could be your man here but with so many top attackers on pitch the goals could fall to them.

This games too tight for me to consider any serious punts. Think it could be a cagey affair as these hyped up games often are. City have to go for it at some point but could be later in match and united have no real need to chase game. In saying that early goal could open it up and create a goal fest with the attacking talent in both teams. Just dont know. Will probably have a touch on the red card tip as one thing we do know is tensions will be high. Good luck all whatever u decide to bet on, just dont be handing money back to the bookies after a decent weekend for punters!!!

Joe, you’re spot on. I of course have to try to tip it but the game could go either way. Might be a good one for inrunning bets especially if there is an early goal.

Dave, you might be struggling but check oddschecker on their both teams to score list. You might bet better taking overs on the goals and go as high as you can if it’s being streamed live. Check out bet365 for this one.

Bet365 are doing a special for the game:
Place a bet pre match and they will give u a FREE In-play bet to the same stake (max 50) and if your free in play bet gets beat they will refund it.

Paddy Power are refunding all first/last/correct scorers if Rooney scores at anytime

I can’t see anything but goals with both teams being very strong attacking wise and both suspect at the back over 3.5 goals and nibble on nasri anytime scorer for me and a little touch on a red card.

Danny if your backing them as singles then you should prob do the double also at 8/1 with william hill. You’d be kicking yourself if both scored.

Math Ladbrokes not doing any money back specials unfortunately but claiming to be best price for goalscorers and correct scores.

Just put a couple of bets on for a bit of interest.

£10 on Rooney first goal at 8/1 with Ladbrokes.

£10 on Lescott first goal at 40/1 with Ladbrokes.

£8 on Kompany first goal at 50/1 with Ladbrokes (online only as 40/1 in shops).

£1 on 3-0 Lescott at 375/1 at Ladbrokes

£1 on 3-0 Kompany at 425/1 at Ladbrokes.

    Good luck everyone.

On the bet365 free in-play bet, if you place a £50 pre match bet on city/draw double chance and follow that with a £50 Utd tw in-play, the worst you will walk away with is £15 profit. If you look at the t&c’s its bulletproof! The only thing that can effect it is an early goal so u need to be quick on the trigger for the in-play bet. City win or draw = £15, United win = £62.50. Free money?? I’m all over that!!! o/

I would slightly prefer united as its a team thats bean built over years while city seems like a bunch of mercenaries who have tried to buy the title. Might be good for the game to have a new team winning it but just favour united.
