THERE are another eight ties in the Champions League and I’m on Bayern Munich to wreak revenge against Arsenal for their defeat at the Emirates.
The Bundesliga champions have won seven out of seven in Munich this season, scoring 29 and conceding three.
They were mugged by the Gunners in London but I don’t like the price with McBookie and BetVictor among firms who go a best 2-5. Arsenal have won five in a row in the Premier League to move second behind Man City but if Bayern hit the heights they’ll struggle.
That’s an if of course because Eintracht Frankfurt shut them out in a 0-0 draw on Friday and were criticised for their ant-football tactics.
Arsenal don’t play like that so won’t take much from Eintracht’s performance. Thomas Muller didn’t start that match but came on late and best bet could be Muller to score at 6-5 with Betfred.
Olympiakos shocked Arsenal at the Emirates and have won all five of their matches since including a 1-0 away defeat of Dinamo Zagreb. The Greeks have a perfect record domestically and should win here at a best 9-20 with bet365.
Chelsea are 3-4 at Paddy Power and should beat Dynamo Kiev if Mourinho’s denials he has lost the dressing room are correct.
You don’t know what you’re going to get from a Blues side that looked in disarray as they crashed at home to Liverpool at the weekend. Mourinho continues to blame outside influences for Chelsea’s woes and players such as John Terry have spoken out in defence of their manager this week.
Now the players need to do it on the pitch or it could be the last English football sees of Mourinho for some time.
Maccabi’s form in their first three games mirrors Shakhtar’s – three defeats, no goals and eight conceded. But while I was happy to take the Ukrainians against Malmo I can’t back the Israelis against a Porto side who top Chelsea’s table after two wins and a draw.
Porto beat Maccabi 2-0 at home and remain unbeaten in all competitions but 1-2 (general) is short for a side on the road.
Elsewhere Barcelona face a BATE side that hasn’t scored against them in three meetings. They’re still huffing and puffing without Lionel Messi so best bet for me is Barca to win to nil at 4-5 with Skybet. Luis Suarez and Neymar are both 12-5 at BetVictor to score first – take your pick.
Roma’s return of overs ended with a 1-0 defeat at Inter but could return against a Bayer side they drew 4-4 with in Germany. Bayer’s three games since that memorable clash have totalled 16 goals so look at over 2.5 at 4-6 with Ladbrokes.
Zenit and Valencia are in control in Group H but both are on their travels with the Russians off to Lyon and the Spanish at Gent. Having won in Valencia, Zenit will be confident against a Lyon side of lesser quality and I like Zenit draw no bet at 6-5 with William Hill.
Gent have one point from three but only lost 2-1 in the Mestalla. Valencia should win the return but best net could again be both to score at 7-10 with Betway.
Muller (Bayern) to score
(3-4, Paddy Power)
Barcelona to win to nil
(6-5, William Hill)
