THE only online bookie that lists SPFL first-scorer prices for every game are McBookie. It’s a fantastic service but of course there is a limited card this weekend.
McBookie‘s Damian Walker gives his first-scorer tips every weekend and challenges punters to pick their own. Last weekend he picked another winner thanks to Dundee’s Kane Hemmings.
Three contest entrants person posted winners and after a lucky draw the winner is djeniks70 who went for Falkirk’s Blair Alston at 10-1. Email [email protected] with your McBookie username to claim your prize.
Leave your tip as a comment and quote player’s club and first-scorer price with McBookie – Scottish games only. Here is Damian with this week’s selections.
He says: I landed another 6-1 winner on Boxing Day to provide some festive cheer for my followers and keep a nice little run going. While I’m banging my own drum I’ll start this week with Annan.
Two weekends ago I said the wheels might be about to come off for the Galabankies and they have suffered back-to-back defeats and lost title favouritism to Clyde.
With just one league win from their last five they are probably worth taking on again – even against third from bottom Berwick.
Having said that now might be a good time to be with Berwick as they have followed seven straight losses with two away wins and no goals conceded.
Bookies (McBookie included) make Annan clear favourites but on current form I think this has more like a 6-4 Berwick, 6-4 Annan sort of game.
Berwick striker Darren Lavery is in great scoring form having netted in his last three games and has 48 goals from 104 appearances for them. McBookie make Lavery 5-1 to score the opening goal.
I’m staying in League Two this weekend for my other tips as well and quite like Clyde’s chances at home to Queen’s Park. Clyde have won five of their last six and might have made it six from six had they not fluffed first-half chances in their home defeat to Arbroath.
Manager Barry Ferguson is still learning his craft but at least has the best League Two squad at his disposal and McBookie now have his side as 9-4 title favourites following their recent run.
Queen’s Park are 3-1 joint second favourites in the league but just one goal from their last three games suggests now might be a good time to take them on. Clyde striker David Gormley is starting to find his form this season having scored four goals away to Berwick at the end of November.
Gormley is 9-2 with McBookie to be the first scorer against shot-shy Queen’s.
Another side struggling for goals are Montrose who haven’t scored more than one goal in a game since October.
In fact they have lost six and drawn two during that period. Montrose entertain Arbroath on Saturday and they have just beaten the title favourites and recorded back-to-back wins.
Arbroath striker Bobby Linn has been in great form of late scoring 10 goals from his last 14 games. Linn is 9-2 with McBookie to continue that run with the first goal.
Can you find a winner this weekend?
Lavery (Berwick) 5-1
Gormley (Clyde) 9-2
Linn (Arbroath) 9-2
