MAN UNITED have stunk the place out this season but maybe they’ve found their place in the Champions League.
Louis van Gaal’s side have netted two goals in three Premier League games – one an OG and the other a deflection – but managed to beat Bruges 3-1 in the first leg of the play-off.
It started badly with a Michael Carrick OG but after that it was one-way traffic with new boy Memphis Depay grabbing a double before Marouane Fellaini clinched a 3-1 win late on.
There was a big difference in quality between the sides and United will enjoy hitting on the counter as Bruges are forced to attack. I expect another Man United win against a side missing eight players and McBookie and Ladbrokes offer a best 10-11.
Depay could help himself to another goal and is 15-8 at bet365 to score and 6-1 at McBookie to break the deadlock.
Bruges are as big as 15-1 with 888sport to qualify and 10-3 at bet365 to win on the night. But a United exit would be inconceivable and they should progress with a bit to spare.
Astana are trying to make history by becoming the first Kazakh team to qualify for the group stage.
They are 4-7 at bet365 to make it as they take a 1-0 lead APOEL but I’m on the Cypriots at 17-10 (boylesports).
Lazio, who visit Leverkusen, and BATE Borisov, who travel to Partizan Belgrade, both have 1-0 leads to defend while Sporting Lisbon take a more vulnerable 2-1 advantage to CSKA Moscow.
Defeat for Lazio would mean Serie A has only two group stage representatives for the second season in a row.
