Today’s tennis betting tips will again feature two matches from the ATP Finals, as we get the second matches of the second group of the event. The first day gave us a few shockers, so let’s take a look if Wednesday’s round-robin stage will yield similarly surprising results.
Best tennis tips and predictions today
In the first match, we’re going to take a closer look at Andrey Rublev vs Carlos Alcaraz, because one of these players will be out of the event by the end of it. In the other one, we’ll see if Casper Ruud can produce another stunning upset against group favourite Alexander Zverev.
Alcaraz to defeat Rublev 2-0 @ 5/6
Alcaraz shockingly lost his first match against Ruud, putting himself in a really tricky spot. The calculation is rather simple right now, he needs to win this match, and he needs to win it in straight sets to undo the poor showing in the first match.
The Spaniard has looked up and down for a couple of weeks now. At times he plays really well but then he plays poorly as well. Overall, he’s very volatile.
He is a far better player than Rublev though and eventually we think that has to show. Rublev played an okay match against Zverev, but the Russian couldn’t really do much there.
He will have some chances in the Alcaraz clash because it’s that type of matchup. Alcaraz has also been rather shaky lately but he’s the better player. We think with the necessity of winning he will pull through even though Rublev won their most recent match.
Alcaraz did beat Rublev at the ATP Finals last year and we think he’s going to do it again.
Zverev to defeat Ruud 2-0 @ 5/6
Now this is a fascinating rivalry that has given fans some interesting moments in the past. Zverev and Ruud played five times so far, and Zverev leads 3-2 but as you can see, Ruud beat him twice.
One of those wins was on hard courts but it’s been a while ago and Ruud is certainly not playing on that kind of level right now. Zverev, on the other hand, has been very solid lately and especially indoors, he’s looked really good.
He’s riding a six-match winning streak, four of which ended in straight sets, and we think that’s going to continue. Ruud could hurt him here, especially if he finds his best level, but the German has simply looked unshakable.
The serve is doing major damage, making it almost impossible for anyone to break him. That makes him a nightmare to play because even if you get to a tiebreak, it doesn’t matter much.
We think Zverev will be able to handle this one before that because as good as Ruud played against Alcaraz, the German is too good right now.
