Best US Open betting tips for day 4
Carlos Alcaraz demonstrated a solid level in his first match, and we’ll back him to do so again. Dan Evans just played the longest tennis match ever at the US Open, and that’s gonna leave a mark, which is why we’re gonna back his opponent to get the win.
Alcaraz vs Van de Zandschulp under 27.5 games @ 9/10
Carlos Alcaraz returned to the US Open with a strong win over an in-form Tu Li. His next opponent is not a player who is in form, though he did win in the first round, earning his best victory in a long time.
Van de Zandschulp has done well in New York in the past, but he’s also greatly struggled against Alcaraz in both matches he played. We’re gonna back that happening again because the Spaniard is just a bad matchup for him.
Alcaraz is a far better player from the ground than Van de Zandschulp, who is very streaky but likes to play aggressive tennis. He’s very likely to attempt some outrageous stuff here, and it won’t end well.
The third seed will be eager to keep his matches as short as possible, so we expect him not suffer any of his usual lapses of concentration and instead comfortably cover the under.
Mariano Navone to defeat Dan Evans @ 1/1
Mariano Navone had a dreadful record on hard courts before the US Open, so he was a big underdog against Daniel Altmaier. It started badly for him, as he dropped the first set 6-1, but then he stormed back to win the match.
Evans played a really solid match in the opening round as well but the Brit needed almost six hours to do that. That won’t feel great a day after, and keep in mind that Evans is 34 years old as well, so not the youngest anymore.
Navone is a terrible profile for a player who just played a long match because the Argentine can play long rallies and doesn’t mind long matches. He ran Altmaier into the ground in their match, and he’s likely to do that again with Evans.
With Evans potentially entering this one hugely fatigued and somewhat slow, getting 1/1 seems like a gift, and we’re going to take it.
Overall these two are very solid assumptions based upon specific circumstances, which makes them value bets considering what they pay out.
