There is only one more match to be played at the US Open, and it’s the men’s final, to be played on Sunday, 8 September, between Jannik Sinner and Taylor Fritz.
It’s day 14, so let’s look at some of the best bets you can make regarding the showdown between Sinner and Fritz.
Best US Open betting tips for day 14
Sinner is the overwhelming favourite, which is why the odds of him winning are rather low, even if it’s a final.
We believe that the Italian will win the match, but he won’t win it in straight sets. This is why we’re going with both an over on the sets and the games as our plays for day 14.
Over 3.5 sets @ 3/5
The reasoning for this one is rather simple: it’s based on how the matchup has played out in the past. While Jannik Sinner has done a really good job of keeping his matches without too many dropped sets at this year’s US Open, he still has lost a couple of sets.
He has dropped sets against worse players than Fritz, while the American managed to win at least one set in both of their previous matches. It’s also a final, and they rarely go 3-0 regardless of who plays. Fritz certainly isn’t without his chances here, even though he’s an underdog.
What makes this bet a valuable play is that it doesn’t matter who wins what set. The bet hits even if Sinner wins 3-1, which is likely, and even if Fritz wins 3-1, which might not be as likely but could happen.
It’s just an excellent neutral play where you can sit back and enjoy the tennis, waiting to see as much of it as possible.
Over 37.5 games @ 7/10
This play is basically the same one, just a bit differently. If we do get four sets in the match, which we think is very likely, then we should get plenty of games. A regular 6-4 set four times will push the amount of games over, and we’re likely to get a couple of those.
If anything, we might get a few tiebreak sets as well, which could push the games over this line even in straight sets. It doesn’t matter how it happens; it just matters that it does happen. As we think that Fritz will be able to snatch at least one set, we’re bullish on this coming through.
As with the over on sets, it doesn’t matter who wins the match because we’re just rooting for a close and competitive one. As it’s a final with lots at stake, that’s likely going to happen, so that’s why we opted for this play as well.
So there you have it. Those are the plays for the final days of the US Open, a very entertaining one at that. Let’s hope the final match is another long and tense one.
