Things should be rocking at Ibrox as Europa League football returns to the south side of Glasgow tonight.
2021 runners-up Rangers welcome Spaniards Real Betis who made it to the last 16 last season.
Both sides have injuries to contend with and the absence of midfield duo Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin as well as big summer signing Danilo makes Rangers’ task that bit harder.
Michael Beale has already spoken of how dangerous the Real Betis forward line can be but there’s certainly hope for the Gers when you look at Betis’ defence which has seldom played together and shipped five goals at the Nou Camp at the weekend.
Goals is definitely the way to go and Over 2.5 is priced at 10/11.
Brighton make their European bow at home to AEK Athens and it speaks volumes for the form the Robert de Zerbi’s side are in that they’re just 1/5 to win on their debut in the Europa League.
The Seagulls dismantled Man Utd at Old Trafford at the weekend and should get off to a winning start against the Greeks who have drawn two of their opening three league matches.
Backa Topola won’t be a name familiar to many football fans but the Serbians are top of their domestic league, ahead of Partizan Belgrade and Red Star who gave Manchester City a little fright on Tuesday.
Tonight they play Europa Conference holders West Ham but they bookies don’t give them a prayer. David Moyes’ men enjoyed so many glory nights on their run to the final last season and the bookies make them 1/9 to start this season’s campaign with a win.
Elsewhere in the Europa Ajax v Marseille has a Champions League feel to it. The Dutch side fell at the knockout play-off round last season after finishing third in their Champions League group.
They’ve made a slow start in Eredivisie where they’ve picked up just five points in four games and could be vulnerable to the Ligue 1 side who are spreaheaded by veteran striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Unusually, Jose Mourinoh’s side, Roma, are among the top scorers in Serie A. They could be in for a tricky night in Moldova against Sheriff Tiraspol though.
The hosts have scored five in each of their home games so far so we could see some goals, with Over 2.5 at 11/10, despite Mourinho’s tendency to shut up shop away from home in Europe,
In the Conference League the bookies have written off Aberdeen on their trip to Eintracht Frankfurt. The Dons are 20/1 outsiders and based on their form in the SPFL it’s hard to argue with that.
Aston Villa are favourites to lift the trophy under the guidance of Euro expert Unai Emery and are 1/2 to win in Warsaw tonight against Legia.
Goals usually follow Bodo/Glimt and it’s 4/7 for Over 2.5 against Lugano in Switzerland this evening. The hosts’ five games in the Swiss Super League have seen 19 goals scored already.
Fenerbahce have made a perfect start in Turkey and with the likes of Tadic, Dzeko and Batshuayi they’ve lots of firepower to call upon and should be too good at home for Danes, Nordsjaelland.

20.00 Brighton v AEK Athens
It would always be difficult for AEK to get a result, but it became even harder as they travelled to Brighton without their first choice CBs: Vida was injured on Sunday against Olympiakos and Moukoudi felt unwell was taken to hospital. Even with them, AEK’s defence had lots of problems as they have conceded in all 7 games they have played so far (4 for the Champions League qualifiers against Dinamo Zagreb and Antwerp and 3 for the Greek League.
In addition to this, AEK only have 3 CBs in the European list so either a fullback or a midfielder will start next to Mitoglou, the third choice CB, who is nothing special even for the Greek league. In fact, AEK got another CB to provide competition for Vida and Moukoudi, moving Mitoglou further down the pecking order, but he is not eligible to play in Europe.
If Brighton do not get overexcited by the fact that this is their first ever European game and show the quality we have seen in the Premier League, I can’t see anything else than an easy win for them.

Agree with the goals bet in the Rangers v Betis game, but for more value I’ve gone for
* Rangers to score a penalty at 5/1 (b365). *
(with a tiny stake covering bet on Rangers missing a pen at 18/1 – also with b365)
For all the talk of their pen stats in Scotland, Rangers also have impressive pen stats in Europe, particularly at Ibrox. If you look at their home games in Europe in the last few seasons, they are averaging a lot more than 1 in 6 which is what tonight’s odds suggest. This season they’ve already had 1 pen from 2 home games in the CL qualifiers, and last season they had 2 pens in 5 CL home games including group games.
So, follow the data, 5/1 is just too big a price for a pen here.
Was a great start yesterday going 6/6 from the early games in the Champions League but then only 1 winner in the evening so ended with 7/13 winners. Still a profit on the day but a poor way to end.
Well done all winners yesterday.
Afternoon gents,
No joy on the btts bets yesterday – 4 of the 6 landed but not the right ones for the nap/nb 🫣
All about Brighton for me tonight and think they’ll put some teams to the sword in this competition…a confident Nap and a couple of speculative shouts which are achievable if the hosts get off the blocks sharpish:

Sheriff Tiraspol vs Roma
A good lineup from Roma and I expect them to be full of confidence after the big win at the weekend. The home side will likely be quite defensive with Roma being the best team in the group so can see a low scoring Roma win. Lukaku starts up front and although he may not play more than 60 minutes you would fancy him to get on the end of a few chances. He is just 1.16 to have 3 shots at Bet365 but you can get 1.98 at Unibet.

Fancy Brighton to dominate proceedings tonight and they have a very attacking team out full of width. AEK will sit back and try and defend for as long as possible. Hopefully they are able to keep Brighton at bay for the opening 20-30 minutes. The home side will want to put on a show on their European debut.

Maccathered honestly mate… you’re in a dream world. I’m a Liverpool fan. I’ve read the bets you have put on for months years.. I think you should calm down with the over 12.5 goals and 9 reds
lol 12.5 goals and 9 reds idiot.
San Francisco 49ers vs New York Giants
This one should be a comfortable victory for the 49ers. The giants are without their best player Saquon Barkley tonight and have looked poor to start the season. On a short week I am not expecting many points in this one but the 49ers, who will also be without Brandon Aiyuk, should still win by around 10 points. Given the injuries a few players should see a lot more targets tonight. Christian McCaffrey should dominate the run game again but given how many snaps he has played in the opening couple of weeks if the 49ers get a big lead I would not be surprised to see his rushing attempts reduce.
