IT should be the final round of The Open but after weather delays on Friday and Saturday the third round will take place today and the final round tomorrow.
After a day dominated by high winds Ace Venturer's main outright tip Dustin Johnson leads by one from England's Danny Willett and is a biggest 2-1 with bet365, Ladbrokes and others to land his first Major title.
There have been questions about Johnson's ability to get over the line after he handed the US Open to Jordan Spieth last month but he looks the man to beat and has the power game needed to conquer St Andrews.
Ace is sitting pretty with another of his outright tips, Adam Scott, sitting second in the betting at 8-1 ahead of my main selection Louis Oosthuizen at 12-1 with the likes of Betfred, William Hill and Ladbrokes. So we now have 1,2,3 in the betting and let's hope one of us land the champion.
In fact we have top four as I also tipped Masters and US Open champ Spieth who is 12-1 at bet365 and others even though he lies five off the pace.
Second-placed Willett is 14-1 at Betfred and William Hill while Zach Johnson is 25-1 with boylesports.
My Friday twoball treble produced two winners and a tie so payout at reduced for some and a 5-1 loser with other bookies. I've picked out another treble – simply taking three players who are better than their opponents – but of course anything goes in twoballs at this stage and the weather could also play a part.
1pt Treble
Na to bt Schniederjans (11.10am)
Spieth to bt Garcia (1.40pm)
Matsuyama to bt Bowditch (2pm)
(7-2, Coral)
Looking forward to it Paul.
Took the day off on Monday to travel through on Monday as at £10 a ticket and u16s for the kid free – too good an offer to turn down. Just hope Lawrie and Warren are in the mix still heading into final round.
Disappointed to see Bet365 havent priced up the full 3rd 2 ball betting.
Willie, I’m off Monday but supposed to be playing but might go up instead.
take that back about bet365 – all 2 balls now priced up.
On your treble Mr fixit good luck
Ive put a couple of quid ew ( fifth odds, top 4 ) on Kuchar at 500/1..Now i know he is 10 back, but 2 days to go,anything can happen, and at that price,it aint to be sniffed at.:)
Jimmy walker 21.20 for a top 20 finish..
If the weather stays rough and changeable then a good shout could well be Padraig…he has the game in those conditions and sits nicely tucked in at -3.
Tope 10 finish pays 12/1.
Ricky Fowler just went to -7, he played as well as anyone tee to green first two days, just couldn’t buy a putt!!
Took 33/1 on Paul Lawrie on Friday night ,watched him on Saturday night and seemed to be playing very solid could just plod his way to open glory
looking good hull, shud be oint with an amateur lol !
