Day eight of the 2024 French Open kicks off fourth-round matches in both the men's and women's singles. With the quarterfinals just one match away, world No. 1 Iga Swiatek is set to face unseeded Anastasia Potapova on Sunday in the French Open.
Swiatek marked her 23rd birthday with a dominant 6-4, 6-2 win over Marie Bouzkova, securing her spot in the round of 16. Before her match against Bouzkova, Swiatek overcame four-time major champion Naomi Osaka in a tense encounter, saving a match point to keep her tournament alive.
Potapova defeated Chinese Xinyu Wang in the third round 7-5, 6(6)-7(8), 6-4 in order to advance to the fourth-round matchup against Swiatek. She has maintained excellent form in the French Open as well as the 2024 season, with a 13-11 win-loss record.
