Today’s tennis betting tips come from two fascinating matchups in Beijing and Tokyo, where we think the men’s matches offer the best value this Sunday. In the first one, we’ll be backing a minor outsider to win, while in the other, a minor favourite winning in straight sets.
Best tennis tips and predictions today
The first of today’s betting tips is Francisco Cerundolo to beat Karen Khachanov, as we like the Argentine's recent appearance. The other is Jack Draper beating Ugo Humbert in straight sets. It’s a risky play, but Draper looks poised to win.
Cerundolo to defeat Khachanov @ 6/5
This is a pretty interesting bet because we have two players who are somewhat similar. Both are capable of playing some tremendous tennis while at other times, they can be straight-up awful. They’re really streaky, and we’re backing Cerundolo here because he’s been having a more positive streak. He did really well at the Laver Cup and continued playing well in China.
The conditions are on the slower side with a high bounce, which certainly suits his style. Khachanov is a tough player, though, and he won’t be easy to beat, but we like the chances of the Argentine. He’s got good shots from both sides, and if he plays his best, he can overcome the Russian.
The serve will be very important for Khachanov, but we don’t think it will be enough. One major pause for this bet is the head-to-head record, which is 6-0 for the Russian, so keep that in mind. That sort of score doesn’t happen by chance, usually indicating a matchup problem; however, in this spot, we like Cerundolo.
Draper to defeat Humbert 2-0 @ 3/2
We have to admit that this is a risky play. It’s risky because the conditions in Tokyo generally make for some competitive matches. Very few matches end up in straight sets, but Draper is playing incredible tennis at the moment.
He made the US Open semi-final, kept playing well in Tokyo, and generally, when he’s on a roll, he wins matches in straight sets. The serve is a massive weapon, even though Humbert has a good one as well.
The start of the match will basically decide whether this will hit or not. If Draper comes out strong and breaks early, he’s likely to roll in two sets. If not, then we might see some complications.
Be aware that this is a 2-0 pick, so very risky, but the odds make it worth it, and we have trust in Draper. It’s also the first time they play, which generally produces some surprise scores. Overall, we like it, but Draper to win is also a good option.
