Best Tennis Tips and Predictions Today
Based on the latest tennis odds, here are the bets we're recommend you wager on this Sunday:
Monfils to Beat Musetti @ 8/5
One of the best first round matches served up in the men’s singles event at the Olympics is young Italian Lorenzo Musetti taking on French veteran Gael Monfils.
Monfils is an underdog here, but we’re picking him to win for several reasons. Those who have been following the ATP Tour will see that just hours ago, Musetti was playing in the Umag Open final against Francisco Cerundolo. The 22-year-old has well under 24 hours to get from Croatia to Paris and step on court.
Musetti’s most recent match was a tough one as well, with the Italian losing 7-6 in the third. The three hour long match will have been a disappointment for Musetti, and it would be no surprise if he found it hard to back up just a day later, particularly since he’s got doubles to play on Sunday as well.
Monfils, on the other hand, is playing in front of a home crowd and has been in fine-form overall the past 12 months. Making the Olympics was a target for him this year, so he’ll be no walkover for Musetti.
De Minaur to Beat Struff @ 1/1
Another upset we’re betting on is Alex de Minaur to defeat Jan-Lennard Struff on Sunday. While the Australian is ranked well above Struff, the German is excellent on clay and has won five of his last nine matches against top 20 players, making him the bookies’ favourite.
However, we’ve seen time and time again this season that when De Minaur is counted out, he proves people wrong. We’re picking that will be the case today, and the world No.6 will make it through to the second round.
