Sunday’s football tips: Try a 7/5 Rangers bet as McInnes bids to banish gloom against Hibernian

Derek McInnes has made a poor start to his reign as Rangers boss and badly needs a win when Hibernian come to Ibrox in the SPFL Premiership today.

Most Gers fans backed the appointment of their former midfielder after he came within a whisker of a stunning title triumph with Heart of Midlothian last term.

But he dropped points in his first league game against Dundee United then followed it by losing in Europe on Thursday so the heat is on heading into today's showdown.

Rangers vs Hibernian top betting tips

The good news for McInnes is Hibs haven't been great so far this season either, with two wins and two defeats from their four competitive games.

They needed a late winner at home to Shkendija in the Europa League qualifiers on Thursday and Bet365 make them 9/2 outsiders for an Ibrox win.

I think McInnes will ease a bit of the pressure and backing Rangers to be winning at half-time and full-time pays a decent 7/5 with Bet365.

Youngster Findlay Curtis impressed off the bench in Europe and could be handed a start today. The winger, who dazzled on loan at Kilmarnock last term, is 11/10 at Bet365 to score or assist and that offers a bit of value if he does get the nod.

All isn't well across Glasgow at Celtic either, with fans upset about a lack of new signings and veteran boss ending up in hospital earlier in the week,

The mood among supporters could turn even more sour if the Hoops slip up at Kilmarnock today but they can take some comfort from the fact their hosts are showcasing a new grass pitch.

The old artificial surface at Rugby Park made this fixture a dreaded one for most teams in the SPFL Premiership and Celtic had to come from 2-0 down to salvage a 3-2 win on their last visit.

Killie were also involved in a 4-3 thriller as they lost at St Johnstone last week so I fancy goals at both ends today.

Combining BTTS and over 2.5 goals pays evens with some firms while over 1.5 first-half strikes looks good at 11/10 with Bet365.

Heart of Midlothian vs Dundee United

Wouter Vrancken has made a nightmare start as Hearts boss and will be looking to banish some of the storm clouds when Dundee United come to Tannadice today.

The Belgian had a big task on his hands after such a summer of upheaval, with manager McInnes moving to Rangers along with star striker Lawrence Shankland and midfielder Cammy Devlin.

Having difficult European qualifiers as his first competitive games certainly didn't help and the Jambos were routed 6-0 on aggregate by Sturm Graz in their quest to reach the Champions League.

They then lost two late goals at Aberdeen to crash in their Premiership opener before conceding another six away to Benfica in the Europa League qualifiers on Thursday night.

Morale must have taken a tanking but Bet365 still make the Jambos 8/13 favourites today, with Dundee United a tempting 15/4. Backing the Tangerines in the double chance is a safer bet and it pays 11/8.

Going for goals looks like the best option as Vrancken revamps the style of play at Hearts and combining BTTS and over 2.5 goals pays as big as 6/5 with some firms.

Emmanuel Agyei is a big presence in midfield for Dundee United and looks like a player who puts himself about. He's 7/4 with Bet365 to go into the book today.
