SlipsTips takes a look at the Bet Builder market ahead of St Johnstone's Scottish Premiership home match with Heart of Midlothian on Wednesday night.
St Johnstone vs Heart of Midlothian (Wednesday, 19:45)
Both St Johnstone and Heart of Midlothian will be looking to return to winning ways in the Scottish Premiership when the pair meet at McDiarmid Park on Wednesday night.
After being tipped by many to be relegated this season, fifth-placed St Johnstone are defying expectations thus far, although it was no surprise to see their six-game unbeaten run snapped in a 4-1 loss at Celtic on Christmas Eve.
Hearts, on the other hand, are finally showing signs of getting their act together, having avoided defeat in five of their last six league games, the most recent of which saw them net a last-gasp equaliser to earn a 2-2 draw at Dundee United.
Jambos backers will be offered a general 7/5 on Robbie Neilson’s side pocketing three points in Perth but I’m going to follow a familiar theme by constructing a Bet Builder.
Making use of Sky Bet’s BuildABet function I’ll throw together Hearts to hit 4+ Corners and St Johnstone to receive 20+ Booking Points at 4/5 (SkyBet).
Although Hearts have been middle-of-the-range corner performers this season – averaging 4.76 per-game – they have comfortably covered the 4+ line in each of their last five league fixtures, having delivered 6,5,11,7 & 9 flag kicks across that sample.
Given that the capital club may have to break down a stubborn St Johnstone defence, coupled with the fact that Callum Davidson’s side are conceding an average of 6.56 per 90 in the top-flight this term, I’ll side with at least four Hearts corners here, but to complete the selection, I’ll also go with 20+ St Johnstone Booking Points.
The Saints have been the most ill-disciplined side in the Scottish Premiership this season so far, having averaged 30 Booking Points per-game, breaking the 20+ barrier in a lofty 15 of their 18 league outings to date.
As for the man in the middle, Willie Collum has been handed the whistle for this match-up, with the experienced Scottish referee averaging north of 50 Booking Points per-game in Scottish top-flight this term.
It’s also worth pointing out that this bet would have paid in Hearts' recent road games at Rangers and Dundee United and that only adds to the appeal of supporting the same 4/5 (SkyBet) play in Perth on Wednesday night.
Recommended Bet
- Hearts 4+ Corners
- St Johnstone 20+ Booking Points
- Bet Builder – 4/5 (SkyBet)
