Sheffield United vs West Brom (Tuesday 18:00)

Sheffield United and West Brom square off in a huge relegation six-pointer at Bramall Lane on Tuesday evening.

Things look bleak for the Premier League's bottom-two sides and a defeat here for either team would potentially represent a fatal blow to what are already two faltering survival bids

Despite their struggles this season Sheffield United have generally competed well, while Sam Allardyce's return to the Premier League has not yet sparked the revival West Brom were hoping for.

Given that both sides have posted just four Premier League wins between them this season I'm going to steer clear of calling a winner in the Steel City, however, there is a booking angle that makes appeal.

Sky Bet is offering odds of even-money for there to be 40+ booking points during this dust-up and that price just looks a little too big to me given that quotes of 5/6 are available elsewhere.

Indeed, Premier League referees tend to apply more leniency than that of their continental counterparts, however, this really is a must-win match for both sides and that should lead to a hard-fought battle at Bramall Lane.

Both of these teams tend to play with a lot of aggression and physicality so there should be no shortage of tasty tackles during this high-stakes Tuesday night tussle.

What's more, Sheffield United sit second in the disciplinary standings with their 1.95 yellow card per game average, while West Brom's card count has seen a slight increase since Big Sam took the reins at the Hawthorns.

Paul Tierney is the man in the middle for this make-or-break match-up and his 3.92 card per game average is the second-highest tally in the top-flight this term, not to mention the Wigan-born whistler has flashed four or more cards in 8/13 Premier League matches this season

It's also worth noting that the above-mentioned betting angle banked during the reverse fixture back in November and that adds to the appeal of siding with a repeat here in what could be a season-defining showdown.
