SlipsTips is back to share three angles of attack ahead of Saturday's fixtures, picking out his three favourite fancies from SPFL.
Partick Thistle vs Raith Rovers (Saturday, 15:00)
Partick Thistle will be aiming to record back-to-back wins in the Scottish Championship for the first time this season when they face Raith Rovers at Firhill on Saturday.
Ian McCall’s men have made a mixed start to the season, with two wins, one draw and a solitary loss to show for their efforts so far, yet their 4-1 victory over Inverness last Friday night was an emphatic statement of intent.
Raith Rovers, meanwhile, opened with two defeats, but they have started to move up the table following a pair of victories recently, the most recent of which was a 2-0 success at Hamilton.
Despite Rovers’ upturn in form, the hosts will have their backers at a general 11/10, but I'm more than happy to instead side with the 4/5 (Bet 365) on Partick Thistle -0-25 in the Asian Handicap.
This selection sees our stakes split, with half going on Partick draw no bet and the other half going on the outright win, and that makes appeal considering the hosts have avoided defeat in seven of their eight matches across all competitions this season so far.
While Raith are a team not to be underestimated, Thistle have been scoring freely in the early weeks of the season, and their quality-filled squad look solid value with a -0-25 start at 4/5 (Bet 365).
Recommended Bet
- Partick Thistle -0.25 (Asian Handicap)– 4/5 (Bet 365)
Queen's Park vs Cove Rangers (Saturday, 15:00)
Two newly-promoted teams square off in the Scottish Championship on Saturday, as Queen’s Park play host Cove Rangers.
The Spiders have needed no time to adapt to life in the second tier, pocketing seven points from a possible 12, claiming the scalps of both Partick Thistle and Arbroath in the process.
In contrast, Cove came into this clash off the back of three successive losses, and as a result they currently find themselves residing in the relegation playoff spot.
Owen Coyle’s side hosts have had plenty of success in terms of their attacking output thus far, and that coupled with their inability to keep the door shut should lead to more goalmouth action at Ochilview.
I was therefore pleasantly surprised to see the Asian goal line set at 2.0, 2.5, with the overs holding appeal at 4/5 with Bet 365.
Here we would only lose our full stake if there are zero or one goals scored in the game and that could represent a spot of value given that five of the pair's last six Scottish Championship contests have crossed the over 2.5 goal barrier.
Recommended Bet
- Over 2.0, 2.5 Asian Goals – 4/5 (Bet 365)
Alloa vs Peterhead (Saturday, 15:00)
Alloa Athletic will be looking to return to winning ways in Scottish League One when they welcome Peterhead to the Indodrill Stadium on Saturday.
Brian Rice’s Wasps went down 2-0 at Airdrie last weekend, a setback that means they have lost three of their first four league games of the season.
As for Peterhead, they themselves have endured a miserable start to their campaign, collecting just one point from the 12 on offer to them thus far.
Although Alloa have made a poor start to the season, I suspect Peterhead’s visit could represent a perfect opportunity for them to fix their faltering form.
As already alluded to, Jim McInally’s men have made a wretched start to the season, losing three of their four league games to date, not to mention they have conceded at least twice in each of their eight competitive outings this season so far.
Given the fact that Alloa have scored twice in their two league games at home so far, and having witnessed Peterhead first-hand at Falkirk fortnight ago, the 4/5 (Bet 365) price on the hosts to score two or more goals on Saturday is an attractive one.
Recommended Bet
- Over 1 Alloa Goal – 4/5 (Bet 365)
