SlipsTips shares his favourite fancy from Monday's slate of fixtures from the SPFL, with Queen's Park all-Glasgow affair with Partick Thistle the focus of attention.
Queen's Park vs Partick Thistle (Monday, 15:00)
One of the standout fixtures from the latest set of Scottish Championship matches takes place at Ochilview on Monday afternoon, as Queen’s Park play host to Partick Thistle.
The second-placed Spiders have made a seamless transition into the second tier, having collected 33 points from their opening 18 games of the season, the most recent of which were claimed via a 4-1 thumping of Arbroath.
As for fifth in the table Partick, they have pocketed 10 points from the last 12 on offer, with their latest victory a resounding 5-1 romp to victory against Inverness.
The bookmakers are struggling to separate the teams here but I’m going to go against the grain in a fixture that has all the necessary ingredients to feature goals.
Dipping into the Total Teams Goals market, we can get some 13/10 (William Hill) on Partick Thistle to score two or more goals and that looks a little too big to pass up.
The Jags justified my faith in them to bag a brace in their aforementioned blitz of Inverness, and in doing so they became the division’s top scorers.
Ian McCall’s men have made the net bulge 40 times across their opening 19 league matches of the season, an impressive average of 2.1 goals per-game.
What’s more, the Firhill outfit have fired in two or more strikes in 13 of their 19 Scottish Championship assignments to date, and they definitely represent a spot of value at 13/10 (William Hill) to repeat the trick against Queen’s Park team that have demonstrated a fairly regular inability to keep the back door shut.
While Owen Coyle’s hosts are clearly a team not to be underestimated from an attacking perspective, they have kept just two clean sheets across their last 10 league games, shipping 2+ strikes in a sizeable five of those matches.
It’s also worth pointing out that this bet has landed in six of Thistle’s last eight matches across all competitions, not to mention the same selection cashed when Partick paid Queen’s Park a visit back in August.
