SlipsTips shares a selection ahead of Hearts’ clash with Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership on Monday night.
Hearts vs Aberdeen (Monday, 20:00)
Hearts and Aberdeen will square off in an intriguing-looking Scottish Premiership showdown at Tynecastle on Monday night.
Following the appointment of Derek McInnes in the summer, there's a real sense of optimism around Hearts heading into the season, with an impressive Scottish League Cup group showing further fueling the feelgood factor.
As for Aberdeen, they will be hoping to stay on cloud nine after ending last season with silverware courtesy of a shock Scottish Cup final victory over Celtic.
The bookies’ odds suggest that Hearts will hit the ground running on Monday night, with a home success trading at a general 11/10.
While that price is a tempting one, I’m instead going to highlight an alternative offering in the cards market that looks well worthy of support.
The Over 4 Asian Cards angle at 4/5 stands out – this bet would generate profit if five or more cards are flashed, while stakes would be returned if this encounter features exactly four cards.
Therefore, the only way this selection would lose is if referee Nick Walsh produces an overall card count of three or fewer.
It has not been uncommon to see tempers boil over in this fixture in recent seasons, and there is plenty of scope for more of the same on Monday night in what should be a fervent Tynecastle atmosphere.
The two teams crossed paths on three occasions in last season’s Scottish Premiership, with the two teams sharing six yellow cards in two of those contests, while a red card was also handed out in the first meeting between the pair last term.
What’s more, the duo were involved in a bad-tempered Scottish Cup semi-final tie back in April, with Hearts picking up two red cards in that heated Hampden clash.
It’s also worth noting that Aberdeen were one of the most ill-disciplined sides in the Scottish top-flight last term, with the Dons’ matches averaging a shade under five cards per 90.
So with all that in mind, I’m more than happy to side with the aforementioned over 4 Asian cards line here, especially with the touch of insurance this selection will provide.
