SlipsTips shares his favourite fancy from Friday night's slate from the SPFL, with Partick Thistle's encounter with Inverness Caledonian Thistle under examination.
Partick Thistle vs Inverness CT (Friday, 19:45)
Partick Thistle will be looking to maintain their mini-revival in the Scottish Championship when they face Inverness Caledonian Thistle at Firhill on Friday night.
Ian McCall’s team were beginning to tumble down the second-tier table following a five-game losing streak, but banking seven points from the last nine on offer has breathed some much-needed life back into their promotion push.
In stark contrast, Inverness have failed to win a league game in their last seven attempts – a sequence that stretches all the way back to a 1-0 success over Cove Rangers in mid-October.
As such, Partick head into this fixture as general 10/11 favourites but we can bump the price up to even-money (William Hill) by backing the hosts to score two or more goals and that holds plenty of appeal.
While the Jags have very much been Jekyll and Hyde at times this term, they tend to play with an attacking philosophy of just trying to outscore their opponents, especially at home, and that is likely to be the case again here.
That approach is evidenced by the fact that only table-topping Ayr United have made the net bulge more than the Maryhill outfit in the Scottish Championship this season, with Thistle netting 35 goals across their opening 18 contests of the campaign,
What’s more, Ian McCall’s men hit a league-high 22 home goals over their nine league games at their west end headquarters to date, racking up 3+ strikes in a sizeable four of those outings.
That doesn’t bode well for an out-of-sorts Inverness side that have failed to keep their sheets clean in each of their last seven Scottish Championship assignments.
It’s also worth pointing out that Billy Dodds’ backline has been breached on multiple occasions in three of their last five league games, not to mention they shipped four goals when they last visited this venue back in August.
With all this in mind, coupled with the fact Partick Thistle have delivered 2+ goals in seven of their nine Scottish Championship fixtures at Firhill this season so far, the even-money (William Hill) quote about a repeat on Friday night is a price that definitely represents value.
