Montpellier vs Angers (Sunday, 14:00)
Montpellier will be looking to continue their mini-revival in Ligue 1 when they meet Angers at the Stade de la Mosson on Sunday afternoon.
Michel Der Zakarian maintained his unbeaten start to his second stint in charge of the Occitanie outfit with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Lens last Saturday, in a game which brought up my Bet Builder.
This is a complete contrast to their opponents Angers who are anchored to the bottom of the table after losing an eye-watering 21st league game of the season last weekend when they were on the wrong end of a 3-1 reverse at home to Lyon.
Unsurprisingly, the money has started to come for fast-improving Montpellier and I'm more than happy to back them to prevail here at 4/5 (SBK) in what looks like an ideal opportunity to continue their upward curve.
As already alluded to, Montpellier have demonstrated marked improvement since re-hiring Michel Der Zakarian, having beaten both Brest and Troyes before last week's spirited stalemate with Champions League-chasing Lens.
It’s also worth pointing out that La Paillade have only failed to score in two of their 13 home games this season, as well as 20 of their overall 25 Ligue 1 outings, which does not augur well for an Angers side who look doomed to the drop.
Not only are the beleaguered Black and Whites 12 points adrift from safety, but it will come as no surprise to learn that they hold the second-leakiest defence in the division, conceding at least once in 22 of their 25 league matches this season so far.
Therefore, with all this in mind, backing a Montpellier side that will come into this match feeling upbeat to put ailing Angers to the sword stands out at 4/5 with SBK.
With all things considered, the 10/11 available with William Hill for Montpellier to score two or more goals here also looks like an attractive betting proposition.
The visitors have shipped a minimum of two strikes in a whopping 18 of their 25 Ligue 1 assignments this season to date and I see no reason to oppose a repeat here given Montpellier's recent resurgence.
